Initial Thoughts on Yakuza: Like A Dragon (First 15 Hours)
Welcome to my initial thoughts on Yakuza: Like A Dragon! This game was developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, published by Sega, and released in 2020 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC. After spending around 15 hours and making it up to Chapter 4, I thought that I should do a video like this because there is just so much to talk about and I have a feeling that this is going to end up being a close to 100 hour game for me. lol This game is essentially a turn based rpg crossed over with Grand Theft Auto taking place in Japan. There is just so much to do, from fighting enemies in turn BASED combat, to enhancing your bonds with party members, a la Persona, to participating in some of the most well made minigames and sidequests I have ever seen, such as Dragon Kart (an obvious parody of Mario Kart), can collecting, and even a minigame that has you attempting to stay awake during a movie. Trust me, it is great. I refrained from talking much about the main story other than the names of party members and that one cutscene with Ichiban and Nanba, which I thought was fantastic. "A dream is what keeps you going!" If you enjoyed this video, please let me know if you would like me to do something similar to this when I make it to the midway point in the game. Welcome to my review of Fairy Tail Volume 41 by Hiro Mashima. The Village of the Sun arc wraps up relatively quickly with all sorts of shenanigans and unlikely team-ups. For instance, Flare comes to the aid of Lucy and Wendy and reveals that she was raised by the giants. We also see Erza and Minerva resume their battle from the Grand Magic Games and Gray fights the demon Doriate who has the ability to turn people back into children. It turns out that Atlas Flame is the Eternal Flame guarding the village, and he warns Natsu and the gang of E.N.D., the most powerful demon from the Book of Zeref. We also learn that the man responsible for freezing the village is an Ice Devil Slayer who works for the Dark Guild Tartaros named Absolute Zero Silver. Ken Akamatsu, creator behind the Love Hina manga series recently took a stand against political correctness, warning that it could destroy freedom of expression in manga. Manga has been a niche hobby for years, but as American comic companies continue to lose readers, many former Marvel and DC readers have turned to manga. In an effort to gain more mainstream appeal, dubbing companies like Funimation are actively trying to censor and change characters and stories in order to fit the current political landscape. Also, in reference to Akamatsu-san's comments about Hollywood, just take a look at the few manga/anime movies produced by Hollywood, Dragon Ball Evolution, The Last Airbender, and soon to bomb, the Netflix live action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Detective Comics #1032 is a nice return to form written by Peter Tomasi with terrific artwork by Brad Walker. In this issue, Hush has the entire Bat Family held captive, forcing Bruce Wayne to reunite with his son, Damian and bring Batman and Robin back into the fold! It is a shame that Tomasi is finishing up his run on Detective Comics with the next issue being his last for the foreseeable future, but at least he is going out with a bang.
