Doing twice the work: Reflex direct conversion receiver uses just one transistor
Can 1 transistor function as an amateur receiver? It can but normally audio levels are very low. Reflexing can make one transistor do the work of two to boost reception. Learn more here.
Trying a cheap 18650 battery charger and batteries. Are they any good to run an FT817/818? Watch and find out.

Today I decided I'd stick to operating Foundation qualification privileges only. In Australia that means no more than 10w output and the 80, 40, 15 & 10 metre bands only. Not only that but I used a small vertical antenna with no radials. Watch the video to see how I went with 5w on 10 & 15 m only using a variety of modes.

Want more gain from an LM386 audio amplifier? Tried the usual capacitor across pins 1 & 8? Watch to see how to get more with just three extra parts.
The project shown is a HF double sideband amateur radio transceiver whose receiver derives all its gain from a hotted-up LM386. For more details see the circuit walkthrough in Parts 1 to 3.

A demonstration of a home-made 6 element yagi for 2 metres making use of the VK3RGL beacon near Geelong, about 60km away.
The receiver was a Yaesu FT-817 and the yagi was on a pole about 2 metres tall.
Dimensions for the yagi appear on DK7ZB's website: http://www.mydarc.de/dk7zb/start1.htm
