Funny. Shocking. Compelling. This feature length buddy film boasts superb performances from Mark Haldor (Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Snow White and the Huntsman, Episodes), Craig Spencer and Richard Shields.
A British Midnight Cowboy, in the spirit of Bill Forsyth, Frettin’ is the story of two self-elected outcasts, busker Jake (Shields) and sales rep’ Tim (Spencer). They live on the fringes of society, just down by the cut (the canal), getting into mischief and mayhem as they try to keep their heads above water. Both are there for different reasons, both have decided to retreat from the British Dream of success, family and commitment. Both are damaged, wounded, from their experiences in everyday British life.
But life does still find them. Jake is haunted by a past family tragedy. And Tim can’t stay away from the suburban promise of the nuclear family that was cruelly snatched away from him by Meathead (Haldor).
Will Jake and Tim’s budding friendship survive their struggle to survive and the pressures and ghosts from suburbia they are trying to avoid?
Frettin’ is full of comedy and drama in equal measure.
