This weeks episode pits myself against Adrian in a competitive game of Joust for the Atari 7800.
Joust was developed by Williams Electronics in 1982. It is a "platform" arcade game pitting the player against enemies mounted on the back of buzzards. You, the player are mounted on an Ostrich...because that seems cool, or something.
The object of the game is to "joust" with the enemies. The winner of the joust is the one that sits higher upon impact. If the player loses the joust, he/she is killed, and their mount flies away. If the player wins, the rider of the enemy mount turns into an egg (no, not the bird, but the rider...go with it here). After that, the player swoops in and collects the egg for additional points. If the egg goes uncollected, the enemy rider hatches free, and gains a new mount to continue the attack. If the egg falls into the lava on later stages, it perishes with no points awarded.

Princess Mariko has been kidnapped by Akuma, and it is up to Eric to become the ultimate Karateka to rescue her on the Atari 7800 version of Karateka!
Karateka is a 1984 martial arts action game by Jordan Mechner, and was his first published game, created while attending Yale University. It was originally programmed for the Apple II, then widely ported. The game was published in North America by Brøderbund, and in Europe by Ariolasoft. Along with Karate Champ (1984) and Yie-Ar Kung Fu (1985), Karateka established the basis of the modern fighting game.
The player controls an unnamed protagonist who is attempting to rescue his love interest, the Princess Mariko, from Akuma's castle fortress. The game exhibits a combination of a side-scrolling platform and fighting game elements similar to a beat 'em up. The player uses punches and kicks to defeat Akuma and his guards and make his way deeper into the fortress. - Wikipedia
