'Ebb Tide', Synth Magic by Chris Rendall
A different approach to the Robert Maxwell/Carl Sigman classic 'Ebb tide'. The sounds of the waves was produced using a MiniMoog (VSTi) white noise and some tweaking around with the ADSR etc. The main theme was with a combination of a piano sound from my Yamaha DGX 200 keyboard, a Korg M1 (VSTi) and a Korg Monopoly (again VSTi).

"Ebb Tide" is a popular song, written in 1953 by the lyricist Carl Sigman and composer Robert Maxwell. An instrumental version by organist Kenneth W. Griffin was played in the fifth season premiere of the TV drama Mad Men.

The song's build up is to illustrate the ocean waves coming in and out to and from the shores, due to the ebb tides.
The first three notes are identical to the first three notes of the Erroll Garner song "Misty" (1954).
This song is not to be confused with the title song from the movie Ebb Tide (1937), which is a composition by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger.

The video itself: The crashing waves was filmed at Cala Bona in Mallorca, Spain. I didn't take a tripod which is why its a little shakey!
Hotel Atolon is located in the promenade of Cala Bona, in the bay of Cala Millor, one of the main touristic destinations in the island of Mallorca.
