Today we venture deep into the Old Souks of Tripoli. Known for their narrow alleys, people shopping and moving about, stone architecture, and shops selling anything and everything, the souk (or marketplace) is the foundation and center of culture in many middle-eastern cities. Within its walls lie many delights, and a delightful mix of organization and chaos. Watch as I wander around this complex and exciting environment, with my new friend, translator, and Tripoli native, Elian. This afternoon, we spend 3 1/2 hours inside, and still barely scratched the surface. The souks are full of surprises, and no trip to Lebanon, I would argue, could be considered complete without a visit.

On this episode of The Nudge, we take a trip to the very top of the city of Tbilisi, to witness the massive pillars that make up the Chronicles of Georgia. 16 pillars, standing 30m tall retell the 3000 years of history of the region that we know today as Georgia. In 1985, Georgian Zurab Tsereteli began sculpting this massive monument under the Soviet Union. By 1991, it had fallen, and with the project running out of money, construction ceased. Today you can visit this mostly complete complex, free of charge, to learn about the history of this country.

In the 14th episode of The Nudge, I explore the abandoned remains of former Soviet mining town Chiatura, and resort city of Tskaltubo. (in Georgia) These two places held a significant role during the 70 years of the Soviet Union, but experienced a wide swing in economic activity and visitors after its fall.
Once home to Manganese mines and more than a dozen cable car lines, Chiatura now exists largely unchanged, with period architecture and the rusting cable cars and overgrown terminals remaining, and the economy of this town uncertain. While Tskaltubo took a beating in tourism, with 125,000 visitors annually at its height, crashing to some 700 estimated visitors today to one of its few remaining sanitorium resorts.
Seeing their remnants was fascinating, and I had a good time walking around, shooting video, and taking pictures. Please also enjoy the companion photo blog linked below, and follow me on the Have You Been Here travel app @nudgetravel for more exclusive photos from the road.

Not wasting any time, on my first day back in Mexico City, I took the opportunity to meet with Ernesto Contreras (of Dash - Digital Cash cryptocurrency) to talk about his background in the industry, some shared observations in El Salvador about the Bitcoin Law, as well as his team's accomplishments and goals to grow crypto adoption in this Latin American country.
You may find more information about Dash at dash.org, and Ernesto is also on Twitter @ernestocontrer.
This is the first in my series from Mexico. I will be traveling around for a few weeks, sharing the incredible culture, food, architecture that I love, as well as talking with other prominent people in the crypto and liberty spaces that are trying to grow their communities here.
As always, I am completely crowdfunded, so any and all contributions to my work are appreciated. Wind noise was an issue recording this episode. Subtitles are strongly recommended.

On this episode of The Nudge, I look out (literally) into my back yard to discover an abandoned Soviet sports complex. This is the last full-length vlog being released from my time traveling in Georgia, and I thought it would be great to do something special. This vlog you're about to watch documents a place that has not been explored on Youtube previously. Watch as I wander around this massive aquatics complex in Tbilisi — Opened in 1978 under the FSU, and closed forever in 2014.
If you enjoy these videos, please comment and share the channel. This is the best way to grow organically. And if you want to support me traveling and making content, send a donation at cointr.ee/nudge. With your help, this work can become sustainable and perhaps even a long-term career.

Continuing with Part 2 of my video at Porcfest 19. I talk to even more merchants about why they prefer getting paid in precious metals and crypto over worthless fiat. I encourage libertarians and ancaps everywhere to discover why #LibertyLivesinNewHampshire !
For this first episode of The Nudge in Georgia, we take a trip to the largest open-air market in Tbilisi — The Dezerter Bazaar, or Dezertir Bazroba. This place is an expansive network of vendors selling anything and everything you can think of, and a wealth of entertainment and education into the daily lives of Georgians. For this small country, we're starting big, and there's no better way to get to know a new culture than to see where it trades. Join me on this adventure, and follow along for subsequent videos here in Georgia, and other quests in foreign lands.
