In this video Jim and Stephanie do a quick walk through of the Plenti media browser. It's a visual representation of all the files in your assets folder that can eventually be used to add or remove assets globally on your site. Jim shows how nested folders in your assets folder are converted into filters that can be used to narrow your results. Stephanie asks about how to get media on the actual page, so Jim goes over plans to integrate file uploading and browsing capabilities into the content editor. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5Afd26BlCY
When using the "Svelte for VS Code" plugin (https://open-vsx.org/extension/svelte/svelte-vscode) it was automatically completing certain suggestions that I did not want to use. For example:
- "button" became "GamepadButton"
- "list" became "listen" and added an automatic import
- "index" became "indexedDB"
It's super useful to use the language-tools (https://github.com/sveltejs/language-tools) for syntax highlighting and suggestion, I just wanted to stop this particular autocompletion. You can do this by disabling accepting the current suggest by the commit character (in the case of JS, that's a period ".")
Big thanks to Matt Bierner for posting the fix: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/47696

The newest nightly builds of the Olive Video Editor have made huge improvements over the last time we took a look. There is a functional parameter editor in addition to the new node editor for folks who like to add effects the familiar old way. It's stable and hasn't crashed on us yet and many of the tools have gotten huge UX improvements to make them easier to use.

This week we take a look at uploading new media files to our Plenti sites. Jim added a file upload widget that you can use to drag and drop files or select them from the file browser on your computer. Then you see a preview, where you can choose to keep or discard files based on their thumbnail. Finally you can publish these files, which sends a create request using GitLab's commit API and adds these files to your repository.

In this episode, Jesse walks us through how he reworked the step of gathering media files to use a JSON index created at build time versus recursively fetching file links, which often is blocked on the server. This has better performance because it moves the work to build time in Go, which is very fast, instead of runtime in JS, which is slower. He also made the filtering process more efficient and made it account for baseurls.

The default video transitions in Olive Video Editor alpha release are... limited to say the least. The good news is the effects library is quite good, and you can create custom transitions using them. This video tutorial goes over using keyframes to transition between different states of the the Transform effect to create a basic swipe effect between two clips.
