In this video, I discuss more bad news for Ripple the company and for XRP the cryptocurrency.
Early investors are trying to sell shares of Ripple at a $6 billion valuation, which is well below where Ripple raised money in December 2019 at a $10 billion valuation. This is also a steep discount to the value of Ripple's XRP holdings, which are currently at least $14 billion. Insider selling at a deep discount provides an interesting window into what sophisticated investors believe Ripple XRP's future to be.
In addition, as the price of XRP has risen, it looks like Jed McCaleb (a co-founder) has increased the size of his daily XRP sales.
Retail investors who buy XRP are the bag-holders. As Warren Buffett is fond of saying, "If you've been playing poker for half an hour and you still don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy."

In this video, I discuss Jamie Dimon's recent comments on Bitcoin and crypto.
Dimon criticizes crypto for the same things that his bank has been been doing for years: money laundering, sex trafficking, and participating in Ponzi schemes.
Bitcoin is not a Ponzi scheme, because there is no one at the center controlling things and paying off new investors with old investors' money. Unlike Ponzi schemes, Bitcoin does not offer a stable high return with low volatility.
Dimon criticizes crypto, but still continues to profit from offering crypto products to bank clients, as well as offering in-house crypto like JP Morgan coin.
The hypocrisy of banksters is truly astounding. Bitcoin fixes this, and is already trading at a higher market cap than JP Morgan.

In this video, I discuss whether the US is headed towards a hard landing, where the Fed pushes the US economy into a recession and causes a bear market, in its efforts to bring inflation under control.
The real problem is that recessions always lead to higher budget deficits, and thus lead to higher debt/GDP levels, as debt increases and the economy shrinks.
A hawkish stance cannot be held for very long in the face of a deflationary debt spiral like this. I expect something big to break this summer, and for the Fed to be forced to reverse course and turn the money printers back on before the end of September 2022.
A Powell pivot would lead to a very large stock market rally and Bitcoin rally.

In this video, I discuss Elon Musk's recent tweets about Bitcoin's energy usage. Elon is clearly trying to placate ESG investors in Tesla, by tweeting something that he cannot possibly believe himself.
Bitcoin does indeed consume large amounts of energy, as do the internet (10% of global electricity consumption), global travel and trade, and other hallmarks of an advanced civilization.
Living in a mud hut consumes minimal amounts of energy, but most people living in developed countries have no wish to return to previous, lower-energy ways of living.
Fortunately, the universe contains many sources of energy which will be harnessed by future technologies: wind, solar, nuclear fusion, algae power, tidal power, space-based solar energy (Dyson spheres), etc.
In the meantime, Bitcoin miners will continue to seek out the cheapest sources of electricity, many of which are quite environmentally friendly: geothermal, solar, hydro-electric, natural gas venting, and other "stranded energy" sources.
Bitcoin should not be compared to some idealistic "pie in the sky" financial system that does not exist, but rather to the existing fiat financial system, which is characterized by wasteful and polluting wars, big government waste, and ugly bank branches and physical ATM machines.

In this video, I discuss the history of China Bitcoin bans, as well as what might happen if a full Bitcoin mining ban is put into place in China.
If China bans Bitcoin mining, the hash rate will fall temporarily, as Chinese miners unplug and try to relocate and miners outside of China ramp up capacity. The difficult rate will also adjust down after 2 weeks, to make it easier to mine Bitcoin.
Nothing else will happen. The Bitcoin network is controlled by full nodes, not Bitcoin miners. The miners work for the network and full nodes, and will be bypassed if they do not follow the rules.
Bitcoin continues to be decentralized and robust, unlike all altcoins.

In this video, I discuss whether the IRS can seize your Bitcoin, and other issues surrounding U.S. cryptocurrency tax policy.
Bitcoin is currently taxable as property in the US.
If you leave your Bitcoin on an exchange or store your Bitcoin private keys in the cloud, the IRS can certainly seize your Bitcoin.
Otherwise, they are powerless to seize your Bitcoin, unless you hand over your private keys to them.
If you out-hodl the IRS and US government, you may not owe taxes.
