Defective 13A BS1363 Moulded Mains Plug Taken Apart
This plug is from a vacuum cleaner which stopped working. Moving the flex near the plug would result in the vacuum cleaner working intermittently.
This type of fault is usually due to the flex being damaged, however in this case the fault was inside the factory fitted moulded plug - one wire was not crimped properly, and just pulled out of the terminal.
These moulded on plugs are supplied on the majority of electrical items, as they are cheaper and quicker to assemble than the manually wired type. They are not designed to be removed or taken apart, and if damaged, the only solution is to cut the plug off and fit another one.
Part 3 in a series on building a CNC router.
This episode covers the control cabinet, mechanical installation of an interlocked rotary switch, attaching motor drives to heatsinks, end gland plates and mounting various other large components on the back panel.

What's inside a 1980s Racal-Guardall RLC1S PIR motion sensor. No instructions or details but most likely a 12 volt device which connected to a dedicated lighting control unit. Uses a segmented mirror to focus IR from the environment onto the sensor.
Also a look inside a modern self contained 230V AC PIR motion sensor which uses the same chip and very similar circuit. Uses a plastic IR lens to achieve the same results as the mirror.

The neon screwdriver device encounters some water. This causes a certain amount of damage, ensuring that no one can use it ever again.
This demonstration involves the use of certain chemicals. These can be dangerous if not used properly.
In the video there is a section cut out - this is about 90 seconds of delay between adding the water and the reaction occurring - just one reason why such experiments should not be attempted without understanding how and why it works.
