The Seattle City Council voted unanimously in favor of a resolution requesting emergency economic assistance from the state of Washington for illegal immigrants, according to the Seattle Times.
What's this about? The city council voted 9-0 on the resolution, which will be signed by Mayor Jenny Durkan. The resolution calls for the state to create a fund called the "Washington Worker Relief Fund" that would allocate at least $100 million to assist illegal immigrants who have lost their jobs or been harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Waffle House shooter was told to wear a mask, Colorado police say
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after opening fire on a Waffle House employee who told him he needed to wear a mask, authorities in Colorado said.
He was arrested Monday. The attack happened early Friday at a restaurant in the Denver suburb of Aurora, police said in a statement. Officers responding to a report of a fight and possible shooting found the employee with a gunshot wound, the Aurora Police Department said.
"The victim was transported to the hospital and is recovering from his injury," police said.

New hate crime laws
Transgender persons and human rights advocates are cheering Liberal legislation to make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of gender expression or identity.
But Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould chose the words of one young advocate — 10-year-old Charlie Lowthian-Rickert — to sum up the achievement of Tuesday’s announcement.
“Charlie told me this law is one important step that offers our family and my friends here today one simple thing — hope. Charlie is wise beyond her years,” Wilson-Raybould told reporters.
The new legislation would strengthen provisions of the Canadian Human Rights Act to bar discrimination in federal jurisdictions on the basis of gender identity and gender expression. Ontario adopted similar language for the province’s human rights act in 2012.
It would also amend the Criminal Code to extend protections against hate speech to gender identity and gender expression.

Germany Announces Emergency Border Controls Amid Migrant Crisis
Germany announced on Sunday that it was invoking emergency powers to start protecting its borders, seemingly reaching a point of overload after greeting with open arms tens of thousands of migrants pouring into Europe, and urging other European nations to do the same.
Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière announced the decision to impose temporary controls on Germany’s southern border with Austria, after thousands of migrants have crossed over in recent weeks.
The announcement followed a meeting of top officials to discuss the migrant crisis, after the flood of people from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other troubled areas into Munich and other Eastern cities continued unabated for the second weekend in a row.
The emergency measures, which are said to be temporary, would presumably allow Germany to turn away migrants from the Balkans and other areas whose citizens are not fleeing war or persecution.
Mr. de Maizière said that it is “desperately necessary” for Germany to “limit the flow to Germany and to reinstate an orderly entry process,” after two weeks that left the country straining to accommodate and house the new arrivals.

Elderly Swedes also forced out of housing to make room for migrants
Federal and state governments in Germany are in the process of devising new laws to expropriate private property for refugee housing.
The new regulations are aimed primarily at unused commercial properties, but may also apply to homes and condos, according to ARD Berlin Studios, a German public broadcaster.
In Sweden, the state Migration Board in May evicted elderly residents from the Millmark center in Sörmark outside Torsby, according to Värmlands Folkblad, a Swedish language daily newspaper.
The residents were told there were plans to make the property an asylum accommodation.
The reaction in Sweden to the influx of refugees has resulted in an anti-immigrant party leading in polls.
The Sweden Democrats are supported by 25.5 per cent of voters and are now more popular than the Social Democrats with 23.4 per cent of voter support, according to a YouGov poll sponsored by Metro, a free daily newspaper in Sweden.
Anti-immigration political parties in France, Germany and Austria are also receiving wide support. Austria’s Freedom Party is supported by 29 percent of the population.

Why liberals should never be allowed to own or possess a firearm.
Many questions have been raised during the Kyle Rittenhouse Trial as of late. One in particular is why the prosecuting attorney hasn't been arrested for felony endangerment of the jury. In most states, if a person waves around a firearm with their finger on the trigger, it constitutes assault with a deadly weapon or aggravated assault. St. Louis County Police spokesman Sgt. Brian Schellman stated that commanders with county police spoke with protesters about the ordinance and warned them that anyone in violation would be arrested. Nasheed and her companion were approached several times and warned before they were placed into custody.

Welcome to Greenleaf, Idaho. This is Not a Gun Free Zone.” That’s what the signs posted around one small Idaho town of just under 900 residents say.
The sign shows off the community’s pro-gun stance and sends a message to anyone intending to cause trouble. And even though the last signs have only been posted for a short time, Greenleaf continues to grow, with five warning signs, one posted at every entrance to the township.
“There’s a right place for guns,” said resident Kelly McBride, reports KBOI. “A place that they can be used. We should have the right to protect ourselves from criminals and hopefully these kind of signs deter crime in the long run.”
