Best tips for naturally dealing with depression from someone who had it! In this video, Carol Bird, Author of, "The Son I Almost Gave Away", goes through how she manages depression, PTSD and periods of time in her life where she lacks motivation. She provides in this video a solid list of tips to keep healthy and balanced emotions, even when going through times of intense stress, loss or trauma. Key points for concurring depression: 1) Look your best by setting clothes and accessories out the night before. Start day with a hygiene routine and start day with getting running shoes on. 2) Follow Fly Lady at :http://www.flylady.net/ 3) Set up your home environment for success by not going to bed until the house is the way you like it. 4) Consume proper brain healthy nutrients (Vitamin D, Fish oil, protein every 2-3 hours, EMpower Plus by True Hope http://www.truehope.com/.) 5) Do not consume alcohol. 6) Stay hydrated. (I forgot to recommend this in the video) 7. Get enough sleep every night. 8. Start your day at least 2 hours before you NEED to perform for others. 9. Limit toxic people, situations, media, entertainment and information. 10. Listen to your favorite motivational speakers for 1-2 hours a day and take notes. 11. Get outside as much as you can, doing things you enjoy. 12. Spend as much time as you can in or near water. 13. Get as much sunlight as you can. 14. Work in soil if you can. 15. Exercise in a calm and peaceful manner. 16. Float! 17. Change up your look or invest in a small shopping spree for yourself – buy things that make you feel pampered and loved. 18. Journal or use other methods of expressing feelings. 19. When you notice something makes you sad - mark that as a trigger and keep away from it - such as sad songs, etc. 20. Live in the now. Control your thinking as best as you can. Thoughts regulate feelings - control your thoughts and you control your feelings. I practice what I preach on all of the above and I recommend that you try these things if you are going through a low time.
