The ventricular system is a set of four interconnected cavities (ventricles) in the brain. Within each ventricle is a region of choroid plexus, a network of ependymal cells involved in the production of CSF.
The cranial cavity has two lateral ventricles, 3rd ventricle, and fourth ventricle.
Lateral ventricles open into the 3rd ventricle by foramen of Monro and then to 4th ventricle by the cerebral aqueduct.
4th ventricle opens into subarachnoid space in the midline by foramen of magendie and laterally by foramen of luschka.
Dr. Adam Jones, in this video, also describes the condition of hydrocephalus, which occcurs due to blockage of the cerebral aqueduct.
Lateral ventricles and 3rd ventricle swell up, and the condition results in macrocephaly.
The following topics have discussed in the video:
* Types of ventricles in the brain
* Openings of ventricles
* Location of ventricles
* Hydrocephalus
* Macrocephaly
