INFO: Damon Albarn is mostly known for his contribution in music through Blur, Gorillaz and his solo career. By looking through his catalog of music you can find an impressive array of genres ranging from from brit pop, punk rock and hip-hop to electronica, folk and gospel. Despite having this talent of combining genres with ease and sharing himself through music, he’s also a very complicated person. He’s both an introvert and an extrovert. He has a pessimistic view of technology, but still keeps on experimenting with it for musical purposes. And although he’s hesitant to sharing his personal life at times, he still revealed some of his most precious memories in recent times. Let’s take a closer look. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyF682mqYVM

INFO: Ulises Venegas is a musician from Mexico who goes under the moniker The Genetist. On his Bandcamp album page he describes Geisha like this:
"This album is inspired by traditional japanese music. Every song is a different Geisha taking form of every natural element: water, wind, earth and fire.
Isoei symbolizes the purity and translucency of the water.
Katsuru symbolizes the tenderness and freedom of the moving wind.
Hanakichi symbolizes the power and destruction of mother nature.
Chizuru symbolizes the sublime enchanting strength of the fire."

INFO: Mac DeMarco is a Canadian singer-songwriter born on April 30, 1990. Ever since he released his first full-length studio album in 2012, he’s quickly built the reputation for being the king of modern indie-rock and jangle-pop. In total, Mac’s released three studio albums and two mini-LPs. And with those releases he helped indie rock become even more popular. He’s shown what it’s possible to achieve with a reel-to-reel recorder and a cheap guitar in your bedroom. But this video is not going to be about Mac’s production process, sound or position in the music industry although those could be a fairly interesting topics to tackle as well. In this one we’ll have a look at his lyrical development.

Video info:
The Growlers is an indie rock band from southern California and was formed back in 2006. They’re known for mixing psychedelic, garage and surf rock sounds into something that comes off as fresh and classic at the same time. The band’s line-up has changed continuously over the years, but vocalist Brooks Nielsen and guitarist Matt Taylor were the ones who started the band in the beginning. So far they’ve released 7 studio albums, gradually evolved their sound and created their own festival. Some fans even go so far as to say they created their own genre of music, beach goth. But i’ll leave it up to you to approve of this genre by the end of the video.
In this video we’ll take a brief look at their discography, musical evolution and one of their more celebrated songs Night Ride. I’m LIE from Lie Likes Music and this is the history, sounds and riffs of the Growlers.

L.A Takedown is a 7 piece band lead by Aaron M. Olson. Today i'm reviewing their new album "2". On this album they deliver a mix of 80s pop, cinematic and instrumental music that dips into a psychedelic, catchy and visceral space.

INFO: On their new album II, L.A. Takedown align the moody grandeur of a film score with the pure melodicism of pop. Led by Los Angeles-based composer/multi-instrumentalist Aaron M. Olson, the seven-piece band delivers a guitar-driven take on synth-pop that’s inspired its own genre. “Bjorn Copeland of Black Dice once described L.A. Takedown to me as ‘Baywatch Krautrock,’” Olson recalls. “I found myself saying, ‘Well, you know…it’s not not that—works for me!” Still, despite any association with oceanic hedonism, II ultimately leaves it to the listener to dream up their own imaginary movie for each beautifully sprawling track to live in.
