You were instrumental, like many other alert and concerned citizens, in ensuring that India has remained free of cultivation permission being accorded to #GM (Genetically Modified) food crops like #Bt brinjal and #GM HT mustard. We have collectively ensured that #state #governments take policy positions on the matter of transgenic technologies in our food and farming systems. However, a new threat has emerged now from the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) which has notified draft regulations for GM foods. These regulations are very weak and it is clear that we will be inundated with GM foods if these regulations are finalised and put into place in this manner. To discuss our collective and immediate action on this matter, with FSSAI's deadline of January 15th 2022 looming really close, a discussion is being organized on January 10th (Monday) evening at 6pm.
