Like other soul outfits such as Tavares, The Spinners, The Jacksons and The O'jays, The family Sylvers found their biggest success once they reinvented themselves with a more danceable style. "Boogie Fever" had been a worldwide hit earlier in 1976, and the follow up from their million seller "Something Special" was this often forgotten disco classic.
The harmonies of the nine sibling vocal group were nothing short of sublime and this track which was issued in Australia in late 1976 would go on to be nearly as successful, a slow starter, but after some 7 months had finally reached the Top 10. I originally had the song on the EMI Compile "Devastator" which i include some quick images of in this clip. Those various artist compiles opened so many new songs into my treasure chest of singles which would still be cherished three and a half decades on.
The Sylvers continued to record, but nothing came remotely close to the sort of success that "Boogie Fever" and "Hotline" afforded the family group. Enjoy those soulful harmonies.
