Walking Bangkok and a 50 Baht ($1.75) Breakfast for Two!
One of the many things that I absolutely ADORE about Thailand is the street food. Right at the beginning of our morning walk toward the US Embassy, by way of Lumpini Park, we luck out and for less than $2 we get some barbequed pork on a stick, some sticky rice and BLAM - Living The Dream!
I thoguht I'd walk on the beach of the expanded (deeper) southern section of Jomtien Beach - heading furhter south. I took this stroll in May 2022 and even as little as a few weeks after this, the beach expansion continues northward. The expansion of Jomtien Beach mimicks that of Pattaya Beach. The sidewalk here has not been expanded however, like has been done in Pattaya. So, it can feel "crowded" during sidewalk beachwalks when there are only a few people walking toward each other.
I will say, I SO MUCH PREFER Jomtien over Pattaya. To be fair, I also prefer MANY other beaches and beach communities in Thailand. Pattaya and Jomtien however are about a 2 hour ride in a pretty comfortable, air conditioned bus. While my preferred "closest beach community" to Bangkok is Cha-Am, it is arguably almost twice the commute time. And, considering the way I like to commute to Cha-Am is usually via train, it is about a 6 hour time commitment to get there. I had only planend to stay in Jomtien a night or two. The good news is, its cleaner, quieter and more enjoyable (for me) as I move southward down Jomtien Beach Road.
There are definitely some benefits to this place. Like everywhere in the world. There are pluses and minuses.
During this walk, hopefully, I share more Pluses than Minuses... Some of this could be classified under my "why Thailand" discussions.

Greetings from the beach. A 40 THB train ride got me and my GoPro Hero 9 Black to a favorite beach city of mine in Thailand.
(NOTE: I cannot see Comments during this livestream)
...for the most part this is just for some tech-testing which I enjoy doing.

On a Tuesday in September while in Bangkok, I took a *GRAB*
if you've never used GRAB basically its just like LYFT or UBER or FlyWheel.. and used to be called MyTEKSI. Use my referal code if you'd like to sign up: mike68746
The GRAB took me from our apartment in Klong Toei area over to Thonglor area and checked out a co-working space: the HIVE.
I dug it only 150 THB (about $5 USD)
Hope you enjoy the video.

Actually "Try Out Tuesday is *every Tuesday*:
http://thehive.co.th/events/event/try-out-tuesday/
A bit of a summary about THE HIVE:
The Hive was founded by serial entrepreneur Constant Tedder in 2012. After moving to Hong Kong from U.K, he set out to create a beautiful workspace for entrepreneurs, creatives and start-up businesses to create a community to grow together.
The Hive believes in empowering the creative and entrepreneurial community across Asia. We do this by designing beautiful, unique spaces by providing personalised and responsive service to connect members into a powerful network.
At its core, The Hive is a community of people who share a common belief that creativity and entrepreneurship is worthy and meaningful work.
The Hive has two locations in Bangkok: one in the heart of Thonglor, the one I went to on this day in this video, and the other in Prakanong. Both are members’ coworking spaces. the Hive Thonglor is just 5 minutes motorbike ride from the Thonglor BTS station and close to all the restaurants and shops. We converted a large shophouse into a unique space with 5 floors of co-working space, a rooftop cafe and an outdoor shaded terrace.
DO check out the spa on the 1st floor to help you kickback and relax.

I shot a quick video in the same park, on the same bench that I did 4 months ago when I first landed in Bangkok and "started my new life" in Thailand.
In that time, well, shoot, in just the last 4 weeks, things have changed. Life is *different*... The world has changed!!! Talk about an understatement, eh?
The Corona Virus/COVID-19 headlines simply don't stop.
I needed to head out of the house to go see a doctor as it was day 2 of some ear pain and that's about as long as I go before having an ENT physician have a look inside.
Short answer: I have no ear infection and my insurance I have covered it all - direct billing.
I'm pausing to really focus on what I 'have' not what I don't. I might be dilusional but I think I'm clear headed enough to be able to KNOW that I am blessed to have everything I *need* and still things that I want.
So, at 4 months in the kingdom, I still really like Thailand. I am treated well, feel safe and truly hope that wherever YOU are you're safe and happy.
