The snow is unusually low this year, which is bad for water and bad for snowmobiles. However, it's great for driving the tractors through the fields! Today was especially warm, which makes it easier for them to drive through (wet snow is easier to push through than cold snow).
This video is of a John Deere 420 Utility with under exhaust. It's also the first video I've done completely in Linux, using kdenlive video editing software. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BwRhFwbkfo
In this video we are disking with the John Deere 5020. The tractor has been gone all winter to a shop, so it was nice to have it back & be able to do some work with it.
In this video we're pulling a John Deere BW disk. The field was plowed in the fall, so in the spring we disk it to break down the soil further (remove the slumps from plowing) to help prepare a better seedbed for planting (seed drilling).
Yes, I know the disk is too small for this tractor--but it's all I have. :)

Last Monday we had work off due to a night-long rain (which covered the roads in ice), so I took the opportunity to go on a little ride. The first part of the video shows two 850s playing in wet wet deep snow. Okay, I was filming, so it's mostly just one. The 850s were super fun, even though the snow wasn't that great.
Intermission at Togwotee pass, DJI Phantom 4 video.
The last video was another Ski-Doo 850 the following Saturday. The temps dipped down near 20 below at night, along with some fresh snow fall, so the snow was much better.

A neighbor's cow died in our field, so I was hauling it off to where they are disposed of. I feel bad for the cow, but it was a good excuse for a nice October drive across the dry farm. Pulling it with a 1950 John Deere Model G.

Last year, I used the 630 to feed with. However, I thought it would be fun to try the A as well. I think the A is one of my favorite two-cylinder models.
In this video I'm feeding beef cattle (Herefords and Angus) with the A and a custom-made feeder. The feeder used to be a round bale bagger. I converted it to work with the 3x4x8 large square bales. Bales are loaded with a 3020 PowerShift.

I took the A over my grandparents dry farm to get some photos. It's a pretty steep climb for it--it went up in 4th but down in 2nd. The A has a nice sound under a load though.

This video is a followup video from my previous post where I compared the John Deere Number 38 Sickle Mower against the John Deere Number 5 Sickle Mower. At the time the 38 was not functioning and needed a lot of work. I've since made it field ready, so I wanted to do a video showing the progress.
The mower is mounted on a 1951 John Deere Model A two-cylinder tractor.
Last week we had sever heavy rainstorms, which has made the mornings foggy. This video was taken on a foggy morning, which burned off shortly afterwords.
I have some grain hay that I'd like to cut with the Model A tractors and sickle mowers. I hope the weather holds and can dry out enough that I'm able to do that before it gets too late in the year. Winter comes awfully fast in the valley...

Harvesting Prosper3 (grain, barley, and oats mix) in the pasture, late summer 2014. This crop is extremely heavy and had a very good yield (around four ton per acre), with one cutting. Cut with a John Deere 4230 and 945 MoCo mower, raked with an old John Deere side delivery rake being pulled by a John Deere 2010 Utility, baled with a John Deere 4640 and Hesston 4790 3x4 large square baler, and hauled with a John Deere 4020 and 4230. It was then stacked with a John Deere 3020 with a Farmhand loader.

I was a little later getting to the feeding tonight, but it gave me a good opportunity to use my newly installed LED lights. They are a lot brighter than the originals, yet still fit in the same housings (and look "original". Also, the snow is getting deeper. It's been pretty cold lately, so the tractor still goes through it okay. It was around 10 degrees F when I was feeding.
Made on Ubuntu Linux using KDEnlive. Shot on iPhone XS.
