During my summer break, I reupload successful videos of the past (for your rainy Sundays). This one aired on April 5th, 2020.
Measuring current is simple. Right? You just take a multimeter, connect it to the two cables, and read the value.
If you want to do the same with a Microcontroller like an Arduino or an ESP, things get a little more complicated. Let’s dig into it to see how it works! And which is the best sensor for our projects?

In this video I build presence simulator using Neopixels and a Sonoff or ESP8266. It reads the actual time and the time of today's sunset and starts and stops its simulation automatically.
It can aslo be used as a DIY / Do-It-Yourself Fake TV or a Random Timer for home automation projects

Is this antenna good or bad, and for which frequency is it useful? A question I am often asked. Because a lousy antenna reduces the range of a device considerably. Or another question: Did the supplier cheat on this filter? At the end of this video, you will be able to answer these questions with confidence. And you know everything you always wanted to know about how to properly use a NanoVNA and the Smith Chart.

I build a Datalogger with keyboard input to Excel. It can measure volt and ampere and two additional analog signals.
I use it to check-out the buck converter of my previous video.
As promised, I use here the prototyping PCB aproach to build it.
I enhance also the precision of the built in analog-to digital converters (ADC) of the Arduinos.
The coding is on Github:

Everything goes wireless these days. This is why we have a close look at the “black magic” of antennas, how they work, what is essential, and how to test them.
Based on this knowledge we will build a cheap antenna tester for LoRa antennas. A similar device can be built to test Wi-Fi antennas.
It uses an ESP32 TTGO board on one side and a Wemos D1 mini with a Hope RFM95 module on the other side.

When I proposed to leave the Raspberry Pi for home server applications, many viewers wrote that Proxmox is now also available on the Pi. The Raspberry Pi 5 is much faster than the Pi4, it comes with 8GB of RAM and, with its low power consumption, should be a perfect fit for a Proxmox server. So, let’s check if this is true. And during this process, you will learn a few tricks for the new Pi5.

The USB feature of the new ESP32 chips is handy. Unfortunately, it is not easy to use because the information is hidden. This video shows how everything works and how you must set up the Arduino IDE to exploit the USB functionality. I promise it will save you a lot of frustration and time. And it is the basis for a future video about simple debugging with the new Arduino IDE 2.0
