The only cost for having a mirrored USB boot flash drive is the cost of the drive itself. As with any plan, it never hurts to have a backup plan. In this case, my backup plan is to have a copy of the FreeNAS config as well, just in case. Here are options for the different types of routers mentioned in this video. - No need for wireless on the core router, it is to split IoT and other network traffic - At a minimum, use one brand of router for the core and another for the IoT and Secure routers. The thought behind this is that if one brand of router is compromised that having a different brand elsewhere in this setup will cause the attacker to start over in breaking through the next level of firewall - Ideally, each router should be a different brand for that reason - Using a honeypot connected to the core router might help give you an early warning that someone may have broken through and is trying to find items/systems to attack - Disable DHCP on LAN Side on core router and WAN site of IoT & Secure routers ○ With three devices, no real reason so have it ○ If someone does break in, it is one less thing for them to leverage for information - Having separate routers for each portion of your network makes it easy to turnoff one or more sections if a problem is found until you can fix it - If you feel you must have a "Guest" SSID, consider a cheap firewall/router and limit the bandwidth that can be used for further protect your network. Setup of Connect Duo 1. Unpack the Connect Duo 2. Connect it to your HD TV Antenna 3. Connect it to your home network 4. Connect the power supply for the Connect Duo to the Duo 5. Connect the power supply to AC Power 6. Allow a few minutes for the Connect Duo to boot up 7. Go to http://my.hdhomerun.com/ 8. Once your Duo has booted up, you should see it here 9. Click on the HDHomeRun Connect that you see listed 10. Click on System Status 11. If something is listed in the Firmware Upgrade box on the screen, click on that entry to upgrade the firmware to the latest release 12. Once the firmware has been upgraded, you will see "Up To Date" shown 13. Click on Connect Duo at the top of the webpage 14. Click on Channel Lineup 15. There is a window on the top of the page that will say either Antenna or Cable, make sure it says Cable 16. You may already see some channels listed. Go ahead and click on the Detect Channels button to have the Connect Duo start a scan for local TV channels. 17. Once it has finished, you will see a list of the channels discovered At this point, you are ready to check the channels it has discovered. Install the HDHomeRun app on your smartphone or table. Make sure that you are on the same Wifi network. Make sure that you can receive most of the channels listed. It is possible that one or more channels might be detected but not strong enough to lock onto a signal. You may want to consider either locking these channels out or trying a different antenna for a better signal. You are now ready to proceed to the next step of Integrating Connect Duo with your Plex media server There are two models of the Connect Duo that are the more common ones to use. There is a 2 tuner and a 4 tuner version. Where this becomes an issue is when you are looking at the number of channels that you can record and/or be viewing at the same time. If you are using the 2 tuner version, you can record 2 channels, view one channel and record another one or watch two channels with no recording. If you find that your needs exceed this, it would be better to get the 4 tuner mode. If you went with the two channel model, you have the option of purchasing a 2nd 2 tuner model as Plex understands how to use more than one tuner at the same time.
