Envisioning Futures for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta: The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is the hub of California's water supply system, home to a unique and threatened ecosystem and to a vibrant recreational and agricultural economy. n this interview Dr. Dilek Cindoglu (Bilkent University, Ankara) discusses how political unrest in late 1970s Turkey lead her to the study of sociology, and how the gender inequalities she observed both at home and in the larger society lead her to do research focusing on gender issues. She also talks about the challenges and possibilities of doing research in the "margins" of sociology.
