The American Heart Association recently announced that coconut oil and other saturated fats are linked to heart disease, stating that coconut oil is 82% saturated fat. 1 tablespoon of coconut oil is about 11-12 grams of saturated fat, near the daily recommendation from the AHA. They say that coconut oil causes LDL cholesterol to increase as shown by the advisory. The AHA recommends eat vegetable oils such as olive oil, corn oil, soy bean oil and canola oil.
