Tony tours Thailand Episode 4 - Road safety, Pattaya night life, bar girls and a trip down Soi 6
Whilst I'm still planning my journey, I though I'd give you some tips on road safety and what happens in Pattaya city on a night. It's a long video but I had a lot to talk about :)
I might be stupid but moving here is the best decision I have ever made. Thailand has so many beautiful places to visit and they're all going to be accessible for me and I'm touring from north to south as soon as the bike is ready for touring. Most of you already know that I gave my old UK life up to live here and I've come here with a limited budget. Thanks to the people who have already kindly donated, I'm able to get things ready for the adventure of a lifetime and I'd like to take you all on the journey. If you can spare anything to help, It will greatly be appreciated, every penny counts. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=54T4Q7ZR8DFRY https://www.buymeacoffee.com/vortecks Or use the superchat thing :) I thank every one of you who have already pledged money, it's helped me fulfil my dream and got me out of pain! ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EEUvwM6dIE
This is a very big project I'm working on and it's something I can do when I'm lying down or sitting. I need to keep my brain active so I was looking at all the designs of a BMS and I didn't know why none of them do everything. I don't know of a BMS that is none invasive (where you have to split your main battery wires) but it will also shut everything down if something goes wrong.
I wanted a BMS that does active balancing instead of passive - active balancing doesn't lose energy like passive does, it transfers energy instead of losing it by resistance.
I wanted a BMS that links to the controller (it currently connects to any VESC controller and I'm working on Kelly controllers) and displays all the controller details along with all the battery cell details.
I wanted a BMS that logs EVERYTHING (speed, Amps, Watts, cell voltages and anything else you can think of).
I wanted a BMS that's easy (in comparison) to install.
None of this wireless crap which is a security risk, the head unit is the power source. If you unplug it, the controller and BMS are completely disabled and you cannot use whatever it's linked to.
If any part of the BMS fails, it simply doesn't work. There's no risk like other BMS's of draining the battery when something fails.
Above all, it has to be affordable with very few components. Although it's costing me every spare penny to develop it, it shouldn't cost more than an ANT BMS but it does a whole lot more.

Sorry there was no video last week and I'm sorry for not replying to comments, I had the dreaded 4 letter word starting with C.
I'm still not right but I'll be back to normal soon ?
I've decided that I'm using most of the opportunities that carbon fibre production offers. I made the left swing(ing) arm this time and then I'll do the cross brace and then the right swing(ing) arm. After that, who knows!
If you want to be ahead of the times and see where the build progress is (quite a bit further than you see here) join me on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/vortecks
All my Patreon videos are uncut, a lot longer and I go into far more detail and I do live streams when I'm not lying flat on the floor in agony. Also, if you help me, I'll help you if you need it.
Please note: This thing is far from finished. I'm not simply putting a giant motor on the back and taking it out, this is a Tony build, I have a lot planned for it and I should have it ready for the Summer.
Any problems that are shown in these videos have long been sorted. You're watching things that were done over a month ago on YT.

Well, it went better than I expected with the Chinese 'Mystery' quad.
My FPV didn't work which was my own stupid fault - I hadn't plugged the TX in.
Still a lot of tuning to do, but it flies really well.

I fitted a 5db antenna on my DX8 and a skew planar & cloverleaf on the FPV. The range difference is superb!
In the video, I tested the altitude ok but I bottled out on the horizontal range (a policeman stopped and was talking to me which put me off somewhat).
DJI F450
NAZA GPS
Spektrum DX8 with 5db antenna
Boscam 200mw FPV with cloverleaf and skew planar antenna
GoPro Hero 3 black
DIY gimbal
And... some jello has appeared.

You get to see everything a week early and also, some very 'juicy' bits.
I've been dabbling in solar stuff for nearly a decade but, until now, I've never really taken it seriously.
These panels (with 38 x Sunpower monocrystalline cells) will be linked to a Victron MPPT charger and also linked to my weather station which will display all the data. It's still very much work in progress but the results so far have exceeded my expectations!
Please note: I don't show it in the video but I do fit a busbar down the centre of the cells to dissipate the energy.
I'm just waiting for the experts in solar power to explain how many mistakes I've made so far :-)

I'll let the video speak for itself. I really hope everyone can understand.
I'm getting so many emails, I didn't think there would be this much interest so I'll have to limit the time I spend answering comments at the moment.

It was a matter of time before I got one of these. Fun? It all depends if you're as sad as me and you like playing with the cat but can't be bothered to stand up (or can't stand up when the cat is doing your head in) ?

I might be doing a stupid thing by modding my M365 and putting 2kW through it and it might not work but..... it's GOT to be tried. I wouldn't be Tony if I didn't do something insane!
Codename V365 is coming soon ?
