I want to know if you agree with my thoughts on the Uber driver-rider relationship. I see so many videos from drivers who have thoughts about riders, what type of people they are, problems they have with the riders, opinions about their behavior. I know many people we drive around can be annoying, but at the same time, I think it is up to us as Uber drivers to make every ride as pleasant as possible, even if the rider isn't willing to be courteous.
Many videos online showing confrontations between drivers and riders can be avoided if the driver simply decides to be calm and get through the ride without firing back at the rude rider.
I understand there are a number of Uber policies we have to follow, but I also think using common sense goes a long way, even if it means compromising a little on expectations. Either way, when you ask a rider to follow rules, or ask them to act a certain way, just be nice about it and I think the problems drivers encounter will be less in frequency.
In this video I pick up a rider named Elise and we talk a little about these types of situations. Elise isn't only a rider, but used to drive Uber and Lyft as well so she had a unique perspective. Check out the video and let me know what you think!
