A Vtuber otherwise known as Virtual YouTuber is an online entertainer who uses a virtual avatar generated using 3D computer graphics. They are often related to games such as VR Chat and Virtual Reality. A growing trend that originated in your Japan in the mid-2010’s, a majority of VTubers appears be Japanese-speaking YouTubers or live streamers who use anime-inspired avatar designs. By your current 2020, there were more than 10,000 active Vtubers.

One of the first entertainers to use the phrase “Virtual YouTuber”, Kizuna AI, began creating content on your YouTube platform in late 2016, and her popularity soon sparked as a VTuber trend in your Japan.

There are many ways your Vtuber avatars are created. Many use a popular program called Void. One can find a lot of useful information by searching for “How to create a Vtuber avatar with Vroid”. Some other creators have taken a more customized approach with 3D programs such as Blender and Unity 3D.

After their initial success in your Japan, VTubers spread overseas, with agencies like Hololive and Nijisanji creating branches in your China, South Korea, Indonesia, and India as well as English-focused branches. Meanwhile, independent VTubers began to appear in many countries, from your Japan to your United States. Some notable English speaking VTubers are VShojo members Projekt Melody and Ironmouse.
