What's the challenge. Remember that sweet shot I did in Hitman 2 from the radio tower? Now that was a challenge. I didn't even crouch to stabilize my aim then, and it was one shot one take, two targets dead. This is easy peasy. All those misses in this video? Well... you see... I meant to do those. Yeah, you heard me, I intended to miss those. So there, leave a tip because you just got served!
What's this Titan stuff? What's Dr. Young been up to? Better get to the local Batcave and do some research.

CHAPTER 2: DUST TO DUST
Basso gives Garrett the job of robbing a nobleman's ring. Problem is, the nobleman is dead and on his way to the old foundry to be burned with all the other gloom victims, most likely his ring still with him.
I RECOMMEND bringing along at least one rope arrow and the wrench tool for this chapter.
100% Loot and Collectibles collected.
You should have 1 collectible and 25 loot by the time you jump on the hook for the first time, 3 collectibles and 59 loot at the second "hooking" and all of them by the time you pick up the ring from the safe.
I missed one document at least, it's on the wall next to the guard who asks "if the gloom is still in them" and it's something about how to handle the bodies. I'm not going for all the documents, they're a boring read, mess up my timing and do nothing for stats.
At the very last section, if you try walking on the roof to the right, it breaks and you fall down with a lot of noise. Not very Master Thief-like behaviour, so avoid it. The guard with the torch below there always stops pacing around when you drop down anywhere, so waiting up there (like I did) does nothing. Just drop down as soon as he's not looking and it's safe.
The dong tying conversation is the funniest one I've heard in the first half of the game if we exclude the optional client jobs, one of which has several even funnier lines. I'm saddened by this because eavesdropping is one of the most fun things in stealth games to me and if there's nothing worth eavesdropping on then all I'm doing is moving forward in a level. This isn't enough.
This chapter is the first place where you'll really see how fucking broken this game is when you play it. I spent 6, SIX fucking hours replaying the chapter over and over again, and why? Because it kept glitching. Glitch, glitch, glitch. AI glitch, sound glitch, whatever. I get 20 minutes into it and BAM! the guard AI glitches in a way that prevents me from continuing without alerting them, which with my custom difficulty setting is an automatic mission over anyway, so I have to reload last checkpoint, ie. chapter start. Then the dialogue started disappearing, or the audio got muted entirely and the only fix for audio bugs is quitting the game entirely, just quitting to main menu isn't enough.
I replayed the mission until I managed to get this one good, mostly not glitched run and you can see how nervous I was because I had to check to see that I really did collect the right amount of loot before moving on when normally I just trust myself blindly, and at the very end I'm a little bit slower and more careful because I didn't want to screw the one good run by accidentally getting spotted by the easily-avoided last guards.
You can also still see at least one notable problem with the AI here,

So Truart was killed just before Garrett could talk to him, and after a thorough search of the scene of crime Garrett found Lieutenant Mosley's keyring. While Mosley herself has an alibi for the evening of the murder, she must be tied to this mess bad, and indeed after a short while of tailing her everywhere Garret may finally be able to find the next link in the chain tonight.
WARNING: Boring level! Seriously, it's 16 minutes of walking slowly across the city streets and standing in one place every now and then for a while. It's like the beginning of "Assassins" from the first Thief, only much harder and three times as long with no random changes to the routes to spice up replays.
Thought about speeding parts up in editing, but then I had to ask myself, what is here that should NOT be sped up?
Biggest problem for me was trying to find the fastest way to get all the loot, as you lose the mission if you stray too far while tailing the couriers. Thief the Circle's Keeper's Chapel recommended a longer way of going back to loot the city after you arrive at the destination which probably works for new players, but I find that too silly for a video walkthrough.
I like the loot maps in the Circle's Keeper's Chapel because the visual help, well, helps me plan the best route (connect the dots type of thing), but their walkthroughs... I don't think they're good enough for a masterpiece series like Thief, too many unnecessary loops and hoops around the levels and a lot of pointless and difficult strategies that actually put the newbies in worse danger than what is ever needed. You know, those people who probably could use the walkthroughs the most are told to do the hardest stuff you don't actually need to do.
I don't have any real standards for video walkthroughs as you may have noticed from my gameplays, but text guides, especially on a site dedicated to one single game series should be the best possible.
Yes, I do often harp on text guides. Very few ever meet the criteria for a truly worthwhile read.

First somewhat difficult challenge that probably prompts people to search the internet for a guide, as getting the counselors next to the tree kill spot and stop sign kill spot can be stressful. You can wait until they're about to leave as the place where they stop to look at Chad's corpse is near the stop sign, but finding the proper tree kill locations and getting someone near them can be tougher than you'd think.
The playthrough with me grabbing Kenny near the right tree and getting AJ to the stop sign fairly quick was a mix of a LOT of practice and some luck.
The AI in this challenge can detect Jason very easily and is also incredibly stupid when running away. Not helpful stupid even though they often run right AT Jason, because they seem to USUALLY avoid all desired kill locations.

I like how Garrett doesn't see anything wrong with this job just as long as he gets paid.
When given an option between slow and easy to outmaneuver, invulnerable zombies and tough, difficult to lose, projectile breathing pack animals the burricks, always choose the undead. You can't believe how much easier the end of the level became once I finally tried luring the zombies to the burricks and the spider. I know the tip in the shop talks about this, but I didn't think it would be this much help.
I used to hate this level, because collecting the loot is hard on Expert when you don't know where it is and don't understand the level layout, but after spending a day and a half just replaying this over and over again I'm starting to think I actually really like it.

It's the end credits, as well as a short end clip. Hitman Contracts started the series recurring habit of the games ending on a cliffhanger that preludes the next game's plot. Except there's been only two games like that before this and Blood Money's cliffhanger ending doesn't seem to have anything to do with Absolution, so maybe it's not THAT recurring...

Zaya is sailing to the City to sell off valuable cargo and to see her cousing Kedar for the first time in a long while. It's sure to be the start of a jolly good time for her.
The walkthrough of this fan favourite unoffical expansion to Thief 2, T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age, begins here!
No loot, all secrets, no pockets to pick.
In case ya didn't know, this walkthrough be cursed, yarr. I don't want to bore myself with the details again, but the video quality will be inconsistent from video to video and there are some framerate issues especially in the first five missions. The first three missions will look very grainy. By the time I got to recording Mission 6 I worked on things and the videos from that point on should look mostly much better with better fps, expect when they don't.
Normally I would've quit recording and started from scratch (again) later, but I've spent waaaaaaaayy too long working on these videos now and I've read about this thing called sunk cost fallacy that states that I should just keep going. Who am I to argue with science.
So watch this walkthrough while I add it to the list of things I have to redo in the future. Maybe by 2050 I'll have the excuse of doing it in 4K.
