I have finally figured how to mount the APSU extruder and XG hot end using the EVA system on the Rat Rig. This is the first test print, and so far is working very well. I installed a .8 mm nozzle so that I get a wide filament bead. The next project will be to re-install Klipper from scratch to get all of the updates. I changed my mind – last time I said that I would wait to change the dual Z axis on the second Ender 5. I was so pleased with the results on the first one, and knew that once the Rat Rig really got started I would not want to stop. For now I only purchased the electronics panel. Wade Wendorf was really helpful and delivered in the time specified. There are other you-tube videos, but I think this is the most concise and follows the steps in the guides. I decided that I needed a lazy Susan for building printers. I drew up a quick sketch and off to Lowes I went. I found the guts for a 12 inch one for about $15 that is rated for 1000 pounds - got some particle board cut into two 36” squares and I now have a cumbersome but working one. It worked well when I did the second Ender 5 and has been helpful on the Rat Rig. I’m still experimenting with using a sugar water solution for a bed adhesive. The tests have worked very well, it is easy to make and put on. I have tried a very thick layer and a thin one. The thin seems to work well and can be repaired, but simply wetting a paper towel with the solution and smoothing the bed. The downside is I seem to have a number of flies that enjoy it also.
