This video has been in a making for a few months. I got the Basic R3 probably back in April and the plan was that I wait until the product release and until the firmware supports the DIY function.
Product is release, DIY function is just coming out, so this video is just a regular review on whats new in R3 and how it looks in eWeLink.
DIY feature will follow later.

Finally I have completed the first public version of the wireless control of my 7 1/4" gauge ride-on locomotive. This is just a quick footage driving the loco without the top chassis.
It uses a Sabertooth 2x32 motor controller: https://www.dimensionengineering.com/products/sabertooth2x32
A Wifi LokRemote wireless receiver that talks to the Sabertooth motor controller and also controls lights and sound effects: https://github.com/nygma2004/Wifi_LokRemote
And a Wifi Throttle, which is just a physical remote for the loco to drive, activate light and sound functions: https://github.com/nygma2004/Wifi_Throttle

Scale 1 models of Hungarian Railways locomotives built by Gyorgy Gyenes: M61 019, M40 234, M62 165, class 370 steam locomotive. All engines are scratch built including using plasticard, brass etchings and a few castings. Even the wheels are machined. Class 370 has a H0 motor and decoder still quite an impressive performer pulling those 4 coaches.
Sorry for the editing, but the engines stalled quite often. The track is not in the best shape this time of the year.

This flow shows how you can display IP camera image on a Google Home Hub display. I am using node-red-contrib-castv2 to cast images to my Home Hub. I am getting the image from a Reolink IP camera that returns a still image when I call a simple HTTP URL. I use this flow so my Home Hub says "There is someone at the door" and after shows the picture of the front door when somebody rings my doorbell.
Also read the comment nodes in the flow, I put more details there.

I think this is a pretty essential device especially in Europe where most of the heating is done using radiators. I have to say this does everything you expect. The on device UI is nice and stylish and the automation give you all you will need.

I am sorry, I was only informed after making the video that it is only getting released in March. But the video is done already, so enjoy.
The latest edition in the Mini series is the extreme, which is smaller to fit into tighter places, but uses the ESP32 chip that besides the faster Bluetooth pairing offers a lot new features as well.
