There are quite a few Pokemon hidden behind this feature (not counting legendaries), so I opted to unlock it so I can go raiding with the guys.
Other than that, I started unlocking legendaries in this video, such as the door to a pair of Regis, the birds, and even the king himself. I didn't have much interest in going after them, but I do pick up Moltres and Zapdos off camera. I don't have plans for the others right now, but things may one day change, who knows? ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvNTM8n9NU8
Here is the other thing that I wanted to cover on the channel, but due to lack of proper instruction, I opted to cut this off right as we are able to get into the game. This video is mostly introduction type stuff, allowing you to see the world from one angle. However, when we start things properly, we will be seeing things from a different direction entirely.

In the event you do not bring Hanako to full salvation, the Departed gets upset and decides to take out her frustrations on her perceived rival in love. Some scenes afterward change as well when the characters are talking among themselves, which I show here. There are bound to be some more mentions later, but these are the immediate ones.
BTW, enjoy the thumbnail while you can as Youtube may take it down.

In hindsight, I should have either cut the majority of the training sessions or just split this into two videos like the chapters before this. Luckily, the next couple are going to go quick.
In Imperial China, you must find your successor, and there are three options to choose from. Once you have the three recruits, you only get to keep one, so I recommend focusing all efforts onto whoever you want. All three are solid, but I opted for Hong since he can cheese a boss later in the game and also allows you to get the chapter's Watanabe scene. Sadly, Hong is probably the most difficult of the three as he makes his entrance last.
Anyway, the majority of the chapter is pretty routine, but after the house gets renovated, we go into combat mode and Shifu storms the enemy stronghold. Right before reaching the final room, we get Hong to join us where we continue the rampage. When all is said and done, Hong acquires a new move and manages to split the rock that Shifu has been attempting for so long.
This is the optional boss in the chapter that can yield you the strongest weapon. It is supposed to be tied in power to the one you get for the pacifist run. Overall, it is a little more dangerous than the other boss, but not too bad.
To reach this boss, you either need to come up out of the moat or find the secret passage beneath the lantern. I show the secret passage here, where you need to walk along the hall until you hear the trigger. Then turn around and the boss will be there. Otherwise, you can just go through the entire thing to find the other boss in the moat.
First, for this one, you can bring the robot with if you are going pacifist (if you enter through this passage). If not, you can bring the robot and Prisoner to make even shorter work of it. Second, the boss will respawn if you beat him before freeing Goemon, allowing you to get a second sword. Third, I looted the castle for Genji gear already, so this is not done with the starting gear.
Now, there is a way to cheese the boss by poking him from range and moving backward to prevent him from ever attacking, which is how you beat him on low level runs. However, I didn't want to be here all day, so I opt to take him head on and beat him into submission.
Fuma Shurikens are great at poking from a distance and trying to poison him. O-Robo learns this as a move as you see at the very end, but it is also an item. If you have the Prisoner, you can even turn the boss to further burn his ATB. Just keep chipping away at him and he will go down, allowing you to claim your weapon and continue the mission.

I cannot stress it enough here, get the Escape magic before leaving Baskar Village. Having to repeatedly climb and descend this mountain is extremely annoying. I don't have it here, but I am going to pick it up to prevent this tedium again.
Anyway, we've reached a new village and we need to try to defend the Guardian Seal before the enemy can get there, requiring us to ascend Mount Zenom. The encounter rate here is still a little high, but much better than some of the other areas, as if the devs knew the geography was going to be more of a challenge than anything else. Upon reaching the top, we arrive just in time to see the seal get destroyed, which is our queue to descend the mountain after disposing of an enemy.
Hopefully the next seal will be a little different...
Also, while editing this, it seemed at times like the sound effects were slightly off. I do not have the PS1 version of the game to see if it is like that there or if it may be a side effect of the way the PS3 emulator works. I'll try watching for it in the future to see if it happens again.

This one goes out to those who like to keep their romances within the family... So yeah, Patrick is kind of out of luck here as there just isn't that much to say. I don't think Elise is that popular, so the few fans she has may appreciate the video.

I was torn on the thumbnail for this one. I opted for the one without the spit take. And now that I've said this, those who have yet to see the video are wondering what exactly I am talking about...
Anyway, here is our trip, which features quite a few backgrounds we have already seen. Other than this, we get the bath scene to play out a little differently from previous games. Then we get some ghost stories where Kosei succeeds in providing the most terrifying tale of the bunch...

With the ability to boost our beast, we make our way to the next gym leader, which just so happens to be the grass type. Sadly, Venonat is not really online to help with some poisons here, but luckily we do have a plucky fiery female and a feline to help bring us over the finish line. The main obstacle I am starting to hit here is that I only have a single evolved Pokemon while my enemies are starting to use guys with better base stats. Essentially, I need to get stronger to trigger some of the next forms, and unfortunately, three of my guys will not be evolving until the mid-20s at the soonest. Basically, there is a lot of weight for Spike to pull, so hopefully he is up to it.

Here we have the finale of the third chapter, which starts off with a shopping trip to the mall with Kira in search of cat supplies. I try to explain things to her, but she doesn't take it well.
From there, we try to arrange a movie day with the crew, which leads to us all going to the bakery. Once we're finished there, we have our confrontation with Daisuke where Erilynn fails to find the hope she was looking for...
