The Blind Man shows us that enlightenment is slow, but will occur if we live with courage.
The story of the healing of the blind man is one of enlightenment. That is the entire point of our life, to be enlightened, to know God, and be perfected. This process is a gradual one and is accompanied by temptations, always. We should learn to expect that with good things come bad and not to be afraid of them. And we cannot grow to the knowledge of God without courage. This process is entirely dependent on our reaction to the grace of God when God visits us.
Partial Timestamps
0-0:40 Soon, we stop saying “Christ is risen” in the church, but not in the home.
0:40 – 5:26 Three main points in the story of the healing of the Blind man. Enlightenment is gradual, and happens as we respond to the grace of God. It is accompanied by bad things and temptations. It is impossible without courage.

On Bright Friday, we read from Acts 3:1-8 and John 2:12-22. In the reading from Acts, Peter noticed a paralytic and told him: “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee.” This is a formula for Christian ministry. We must notice everyone around us. Every encounter matters. And we always have something to give. The beauty of giving from the heart is that it is never depleted, but the heart increases. We also talk about the reading from John Jesus drove the moneychangers out of the temple. We can learn something about piety here. Everything in the Gospel and indeed all the Scriptures is personal and applies to how we should live our lives. This is a homily given during a liturgy at the St John the theologian Orthodox Christian Mission, in Quanah, TX
