3 Full Recording Studio Setups Under $150 (Studio Setup)
In this video, I provide 3 full audio recording setups under $150 budget. With this limited budget we’re not able to get top tier gear, but luckily there is plenty of affordable and budget gear that performs extremely well. With any of these setups you should be able to get very workable recordings for voice over, podcasts, streaming, gaming, or music demos.

Today I review the Samson C01 XLR Condenser Microphone. This thing costs around $75 so it has quite a bit of competition, and is not the best mic in this price range. It lacks a little bit in the lower frequencies, has an almost nasally tone to it, and is somewhat sibilant. On top of that, it has some self noise issues. I am not the biggest fan of this microphone, and I think you can find a better option in this price range.

Today we look at the Electro Voice RE16, Super Cardioid Dynamic Microphone, as seen in the movie The Fog. This mic has a vintage warm tone to it, and does a great job at plosive rejection and has the typical great Electro Voice build quality.

Today we discuss my favorite audio gear of 2022. I limit the selections to a Top 3 which made it very difficult, but I share my favorite microphone that I reviewed this year, my favorite audio interface I reviewed, and my favorite new production gear that I use in my studio. I would love to hear what your favorite gear of the year is.

This has been really helpful since I don't keep digital records of recording settings and I don't have the HD or server space to save all my raw files.

Today we’re looking at one of the best portable recorders/interfaces that I’ve come across. This is a fully featured device with great A/D and D/A conversion (up to 24-bit 192kHz) , 8 hours of battery life, low noise preamps, a small form factor and a great build quality.

Today we’re looking at the Logitech Pro X Gaming Headset with Blue Vo!ce. This thing is far from a professional gaming headset. In my opinion the headphones sound is subpar, lacking any kind of life in the upper frequencies, and the low end lacking bass, and if you boost the bass in the software, it becomes loose and muddy. The microphone is a typical headset microphone which sounds terrible, but they add processing to try to fix it with the Blue Voice software.

WARNING: I no longer recommend using a USB soundcard to connect a microphone to your computer. It has become too unreliable due to manufacturers altering the components used in their products as well as alterations to operating systems causing additional problems. The only method of connecting a microphone to your computer that I recommend is with a USB AUDIO INTERFACE that is designed specifically for that use case.
