How I pack my gear and what I carry for outback Australian travel in my 4WD. This is my set up using Wolfpack storage boxes, which are easy to carry, load and unload from the vehicle. I cover my cooking, sleeping, recovery gear, spare parts, food storage and general camping gear. This preparation is for my upcoming 2018 4x4 trip around Australia.

After crossing into Victoria I take the Sandy Creek side track into Alpine national park. The track becomes quite steep up a mountain side, but by lowering my pressures to 20psi I crawl up with ease in my Land Rover Defender.

I replace a rear shock absorber bushing on my Defender Koni Raid 90's after a second bush is lost within 1 week while travelling through Kosciuszko national park. Thankfully I was carrying spares. It pays to be prepared while overlanding.

A sound that some may not have heard in a while. Filmed in Snowy River National Park at Waratah flat campgrounds, Victoria. :-)

I installed an LED light in my engine bay of my Defender 110 to make it easy to inspect the engine at night while travelling without having to search for a headlight.
I simply used an LED strip light and some plastic P clips to hold it in place. A dash mounted carling switch and fused power source completed the installation.

I've upgraded my rear indicator lamps on my Land Rover Defender with a pair of RDX LED lights.
These are far superior to the original globes as they are a sealed led unit so no bulbs can rattle loose or the housing fill with water.
They are the same design and size as an original landrover lamp, sealed and IP67 rated and are dual voltage 12 and 24v.The led's are super bright, respond fast and are E marked. A great modification.

A review of my Goodyear Duratrac tyres after 65000km/40000mi of travelling around Australia. My tyres are 235/85/R16 size, and to date, I've had zero issues. Zero punctures, minimal tread and sidewall damage, and excellent performance on and off-road. My tyres are fitted to a Land Rover Defender 110, weighing around 3 tonnes when fully loaded for touring.
On road handling is exact with minimal road noise. Off road with pressures reduced they performed incredibly well allowing me to crawl up loose slopes or sand dunes with ease. The Duratrac's come with a 2 ply sidewall and a 6 ply tread.

Day 1 of my 12 month trip around Australia. I visit Byron Bay, the home to the eastern most point of mainland Australia. While there I also visit the Byron Bay lighthouse. Byron bay has endless golden beaches and is a mecca for backpackers and surfers.

I hike the Mount Oberon Summit Walk in Wilsons Promontory National Park, Victoria. It is a 3.4km 1 hour bushwalk to the summit. It offers 360 degree views of the surrounding national park. The southernmost point of mainland Australia can be seen in the distance.
