The Indian Police Service (IPS) is one of three All India Services given in the Constitution of India. It replaced the Indian Colonial Police in 1948, a year after India gained independence from the UK.
In addition to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Forest Service (IFS), the IPS is one of three All India Services — both the government of the Union and individual states can employ its officers.
The administrative arm of All India Services is the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Considered the largest civil service in India, the IAS is one of three branches of All India Government, along with the Indian Police Service and the Indian Forest Service. Both the Indian Government and the individual states serve members of these three services. IAS officers may also be assigned to various public sector undertakings.
The IAS is part of the nation 's permanent bureaucracy and an inseparable part of India 's government executive, unlike most countries that follow the Westminster parliamentary government structure. As such the state remains politically neutral, ensuring administrative stability for the ruling party or coalition.
Upon acceptance of service an IAS officer fulfills a probationary period as a subdivisional magistrate. Completing this probation is followed by an administrative executive position as a district magistrate and collector in a district which lasts for many years. After this service an officer can be promoted to lead an entire administrative division of the state as a divisional commissioner.

Knowledge is a familiarity, awareness, or understanding of someone or something, such as facts, information, descriptions, or skills acquired by perceiving, discovering, or learning through experience or education.
Awareness may refer to knowing a subject theoretically or inaction. It may be implicit or explicit; it may be formal or systemic more or less. The study of knowledge is called epistemology in philosophy; the philosopher Plato famously defined knowledge as "justified true belief," although some analytical philosophers now consider this definition to be problematic due to the Gettier problems, while others defend the platonic definition. There are however a number of definitions of knowledge and theories to explain it.
The acquisition of knowledge involves complex cognitive processes: perception, communication, and reasoning; while knowledge is also said to be related to the recognition capacity in humans.
Knowledgetheories
The definition of knowledge is a matter of ongoing debate in the field of epistemology among philosophers. The classical description, defined but not ultimately endorsed by Plato, specifies that for knowledge to be considered a statement must meet three criteria: It must be justified and true and it must be believed. Some argue that those conditions are not enough, as examples of Gettier 's case allegedly indicate. There are a number of proposed alternatives, including the arguments of Robert Nozick for a requirement that knowledge 'tracks the truth' and the additional requirement of Simon Blackburn that we do not want to say that those who meet any of these conditions 'by a defect, flaw, or failure' have knowledge.
