We have recently released the notochord 0.2.0 and the complete version of our new Blender addon. These releases give you access to the new sensor fusion algorithm, bringing improved accuracy and stability to the capture. Together with the new sensor fusion, they come with a faster sensor calibration algorithm and a live visual representation of the magnetic disturbances on the proximities of the sensors. In this video, Bruno shows a small Demo of these new features. If you have a suit at home you might be interested in watching the extended version where he goes through the entire process from accessing the Raspberry to get a calibrated pose that we'll publish next week. Motion capture can be applied in a wide range of disciplines. Today we want to present you Pietro Pagliaro, an Italian architect, and artist, who applied mocap technology to a large physical sculpture. Thus mixing movement, void and solid, expanding the frontiers between art and tech.
His proposal is to represent movement as a void. In order to do so, he uses a Chordata Motion system to perform a 3D scan of a movement sequence and consolidate it in a 3D path.
His project was selected for the Autumn 2019 residency in the i-Park Foundation, Connecticut, where he developed this first prototype. And was also selected for the 2020 Burning Man.
