A rare cassette by Cheikh El Hadj M'hamed Elanka. He is the undisputed master and founder of the Algerian (more precisely Algiers) chaâbi genre. On this tape he interprets the famous qassida (poem) El Meknassia, a work of Sidi Abdelkader (Kaddour) El Alami, an 18th century Moroccan poet. El Meknassia references to Meknes, the birthplace of the poet. Through his poem he tells that he lost his house. The notables of the city had convinced him to donate his house to allow the enlargement of the adjoining mosque. When he gave it to them, the notables but kept it all the same. El Alami was then seized with the greatest regrets and composed his famous qassida in which he describes his new state of wandering.
