From True Shot... A few of you have reached out to me about the status of steel case ammo. I have talked with ownership and suppliers. This is the most up to date information we are getting. The last shipment of Russian steel ammo was either seized by Russia or held up in secondary inspection that will take months to clear- we have heard both scenarios. We have been told Russia could be doing this to punish the US for sanctions but more likely Russia is worried any product sent to the US market will be eventually re-directed towards the war efforts with Ukraine Regardless, that is or was the last shipment slated to hit the US shores from Russia The banking system from the US to Russia has been effectively cut off with sanctions hitting Russian banks and US banks are being told no to wire money to Russia effective immediately. There are no end around on payments, so a US importer cannot send money to a bank that is friendly with Russia and have product sent. Now the other question posed, what if Russia sold ammunition to a third-party country that was not under sanctions, could a US importer then purchase the product and import it in the US? From our sources we have two answers the later being the most likely to be true. This can be done but it is a legal grey area. From two sources we have heard that any ammunition with a Russian headstamp will be denied entry at port. That being said as of September 2023 this will be illegal. Either way as of this moment all the Russian ammo in the country at this time is all that is left. We will not be raising our prices or holding back ammunition at this time. As many of you know Russian ammo makes up 30% of the US market and is a driver to help keep brass prices down. It will take a bit for other sources to help make up the gap left by Russian ammo.
