A day in the life of an average man. Tons of things to take care of, jobs to do , people to see, schedules to keep, people to impress, and health to maintain. And all the while keeping the dreams at bay. Making sure that those ridiculous aspirations are kept on the back burner. Dreams are low priority on the list of things to do. Songs to write. Bands to form. Everything will start as soon as these bills are paid or that raise comes through and life settles down. And then the nights come and loneliness haunts , not the loneliness of being alone, but the loneliness of not being with the right people. The people who care about the same things. The people who are passionate about the art. Or the form or the phrase. And who else knows what you really want but you. Decades even lives are spent trying to do what is expected, what is responsible, what is sensible. Forgetting how short the time is . Until it is stolen out from under us. The song is a diary of a few days, but it is also a lifetime and a reminder that we are the only eyewitness to our own slow death. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LW_YUsFVpY
Clip from Middle of the Sun by Abraham Cloud. About that coldness some of us feel from warmth. The song is actuall about the extremes of playing live shows to excited crowds then going home alone back into silence and solitude. Neither state is upsetting by itself but the juxtapostion of having one after the other can be a bit unsetteling.

There's definitely been way too many sad love songs written on this planet, but when I found this one in an old shoe box ,I knew it deserved to breathe some fresh air. I digitally reconstructed the original performance and addend some strings and bass. When it cam time for a video.... images only seemed to get in the way. I think the song speaks to that incomplete part in everyone's lives. That beautiful dream, romance or scheme that seemed to be the answer at the time.

so often we build our own prison. The prison of the mind. The walls of which are built by past experience. What if we could clean the mind out. Start fresh without the weight and cobwebs of memorized experience ?

What's under the moving beach towel ? The new slacker's anthem is here to let you know. Watch closely as the towel moves and comes to life. Shot on location in Slacker Paradise Hawaii, Abraham Cloud asks the ultimate slacker question, "Why Try ?" Guaranteed to put a smile on your face the band pumps out the coolest punk-a-billy knee-slapper ever. These lyrics will allow you to finally, totally and completely relax. Way better than a spa or a massage ,Cloud reveals. And remember this is not the "why try" by Ariana Grande, Abraham Cloud's "Why Try" came out ages ago and is more way more rock-a-billy than Grande.
"I've been thinkin' 'bout ambition,
and I've been wishin' that I had some.
I've been watchin' the convertibles,
looks like fun, if you have one.
WHY TRY ?
COME ON PRETTY BABY, WHY TRY ?
went to an auction, over my head,
old lady died, fifty bucks to get in.
she had some fine stuff, went for millions,
she didn't get a dime, neither did I,
when you're standin' in the parking lot,
and you're thinkin' hard 'bout what you haven't got,
all those minutes spent in misery,
why not think of nothing,
live in ecstasy,
why try?
You got your health,
You got it all,
You got some good friends,
Go have a ball.
WHY TRY ?

Somebody told me once they cry whenever they hear this song. Taken off of the CD "Children of the Milkman," it pretty much tells the tale of the grieving. The loss of a parent or any significant loved one is hard to describe. Sounds a bit like Neil Young and the Black Crowes
I went down to the big parade,
To see if I could find some fun.
Marching bands with steel batons
Shining in the setting sun,
But there was nothing in the eyes
of the people passing by,
There was nothing there but me
and the Tragedy of Mary.
I went down to the shopping mall
But I knew I wouldn't buy a thing,
Just walk around with my head held down
Tryin' to feel a part of something.
There's nowhere in the world like you.
And I really wish I could see you again.
I'd tell you how I love you so,
And I'd ask you to please forgive me,
for selfishly, thinking only of me,
when I had a chance to see you.
The sadness in your eyes,
Every time I went away,
And where in the hell was I goin' anyway?.
There's nowhere in the world like you.
And I really wish I could see you once again

Father, where were you
when I was growing up ?
Tell me, what did I do
to chase you away ?
Father, where were you
when I needed a man's point of view ?
Father, where you when the roof caved in ?
Funny. we never knew how to mend a leak.
Father, where were you
hen I needed a man's point of view ?
[Lyrics from: https:/lyrics.az/abraham-cloud/the-children-of-the-milkman/a-mans-point-of-view.html]
Now I don't mind sayin'
that I could've used a little helping hand,
there were times I stumbled and fell
in a strange, strange land,
and I was so alone when I needed to know,
oh Father life can be so cold,
life can be so cold.
Father, where were you
when I needed a man's point of view ?
I needed a man's point of view
