English Lessons
In today’s English lesson we talk about the British Royal Family and going on holidays. I’ve included a lot of topical interest in the conversation to give you an insight into where the UK is right now. Although there is some sadness at the loss of Prince Philip. There is also a lot of excitement with shops re-opening, lock-down restrictions being relaxed and the possibility of going on holiday being discussed.
The Royal Family has been in the news a lot recently with Prince Andrew and Prince Harry. Sadly, another prince is in the news as Prince Philip has passed away. Passed away is a polite way of saying someone has died. For example, you might say “It upset him because his mother passed away last week”.

Common English Words With Many Meanings
The English language has a habit of taking a simple short word and using it in a multitude of ways. Today we focus on a common English word and do a thorough analysis to explain all of its common uses. As always, we aim to make our English lessons fun and interesting enough for you to repeat listen, which is key to learning any new language.
Sometimes you hear a word during a conversation, and the trickery and complexity of its use just washes over you. To wash over you means something has happened to you but you didn’t notice, or pay attention to it.

Learn English 179 Podcast Today We Improve English Pronunciation Of Words Like Cheese And Fish
A free learn English quickly podcast lesson from Adept English released weekly EVERY Monday and Thursday
Summary: Today We Improve English Pronunciation Of Words Like Cheese And Fish
Speaking to an English language student about how you can improve English pronunciation caused this short Thursday podcast to happen.
It is easy to mix these two English word sounds up or use them incorrectly. When you mix them, you can end up with some funny (to a Native English speaker) sounding English sentences.
Saying Cheese with “Shhhh” ended up with "Sheeese” and Fish with “Ch” you get “Fich”. So to today we have a whole lesson to help people practice the pronunciation of “Shhh” and “Ch” and importantly when to use these word sounds.
We have provided several pronunciation practice sentences for you to repeat. However, to get the best out of this “Listen & learn” podcast we recommend you also say these words and sentences out loud. Saying the sentences and words out loud is important as you need to train your mouth to form the correct shapes.
As with all our learn English speaking podcasts, the audio and the pdf transcript of this English lesson are free to download. So have fun learning to speak English and don't forget to tell your friends about us.

A Pudding English Speaking Topic
It’s been cold here in the UK and nothing makes the cold outside fade away faster than British comfort food. I’m sure, wherever you come from, you have a similar process of making things just a little better with some pleasant kitchen smells and tasty dishes. Well, in my house we like a good pudding and a family favourite is a fruit crumble with lots of custard. So today’s English speaking topic is about a classic British pudding and the English vocabulary you would use in an English kitchen.
Although where we live is quite a built up area, if you walk far enough (about 2 miles) you can eventually find some lovely green forest and paths to walk. Which is exactly what we did last weekend, only it was sooo cold I could hardly feel my toes when I got back to our house. So in typical British "keep calm and carry on fashion" I made a classic warm British pudding and in no time at all I was feeling warm and comforted.

Improve Your Spoken English - Learn Grammar Through Listening
A common question we get from new language learners, especially those who are new to our way of acquiring a language through listening, is so what about learning English grammar? The good newsis that the more you listen, the better your English grammar will get.
Most people associate the grammar of a language with writing in a language. It’s not obvious at first that to speak a language well you need to form the correct sentences, using grammar, well before you being to speak out loud. This is in part because of the way traditional language schools teach most second languages.

Basics Of Grammar In English The Able Suffix
We start 2021 with an English lesson that takes us back to the basics of English grammar. We’ve had some fun over the holidays with fairly easy listening English podcasts and we need to pick up the pace and get our brains back up to speed as we head back to work, school and or college.
This podcast came about when someone showed me an amusing meme on Pinterest. Although I’m not that fond of the word doableit is perfectly valid English and it made me think about the mechanics of English. As always, I like to keep our English lessons contemporary using Everyday language, you would expect to here in a conversation in the UK today.
