Self-Defense Episode 5 : Using the Ear as a Vulnerable Pain Point
Did you know – as a pain point, the human ear is quite effective to get out of any situation. For instance, imagine someone jumps across and grabs your neck from behind. How would you get out of this? If you try to escape the choke by pulling the attacker’s arm, it gives them the necessary time to tighten the grip, resulting in more panic.
Instead, there is a way you can free yourself from this hold irrespective of how strong the attacker is. While the attacker grabs your neck rather tight, take your leading arm behind, grab the outer part of their ear like a clip and pull them forward. This would weaken the attacker’s position and bring them to the ground when executed perfectly. Remember – practise is key. Also, when you see the attacker on the ground, you could quickly use your feet to knock the opponent on the head or engage in an arm lock.
