There are two main types of process models, theoretical and empirical. Theoretical process models rely on first principles (such as conservation of mass, momentum and energy), whereas empirical models strictly rely on performing experiments on the physical system or something close to the actual system. Both theoretical process models and empirical process models have their own pros and cons.
The following timeline is meant to aid your understanding of theoretical and empirical process models: 0:00 Introduction. 0:12 Empirical Process Models. 1:35 Theoretical Process Models. 2:53 Outro

What is array indexing in NumPy? Well when we use the array function to get NumPy to generate our array, it is indexing our values, meaning that each element within our array are essentially numbered, and we can use these numbers to quickly tell NumPy which elements of our array we wish to work with! In this video we will talk about how to using indexed array elements in NumPy.

Momentum balances are commonly used in process modelling. Process modelling is our way of finding equations to accurately describe the physical system that we are studying. Momentum balances are required when there is the potential for fluctuating fluid velocity within your control volume (your region of interest).

This video is part of our Chemical Reaction Engineering course. Chemical reaction engineering (also known as reactor and reaction engineering) is a course that introduces that relationship between the study of both chemical kinetics (the rate and manner in which chemical species react to create another chemical species) and the types of reactors that chemical reactions take place in (batch reactor, plug-flow reactor etc…). Throughout this course we will talk about how to design various chemical reactors, economics of developing a chemical reactor and many more interesting topics.
