Margaret reminds us of the power of Gods Word.
Exodus 6: 5-7 (NIV)
Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant. Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
God saved His people from the hands of the Egyptians when He called on Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. As Exodus states, God “heard the groaning of the Israelites.” This is a clear example of God’s divine intervention and hearing His people’s prayers and pleas for help.
Exodus 14:14 (NIV)
The Lord will fight for you; you need to only be still.
Sometimes we doubt that our prayers are heard above. This Bible verse on divine intervention shows that we should be confident our prayers will be answered, that we only need to surrender our control and let God take the reins in order to hear His answer.
Daniel 6:22 (NIV)
My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”
This verse is found in the passage where Daniel is in the den of lions. Even though he’s been cast in there in hopes that he’d be eaten by the lions, God intervened and protected him from harm while in the den. When we trust in Him to answer our prayers and entrust our lives to Him, His divine intervention will find us in even the most distressing situations.

Who is Dr Ayesha Ahmad?
Ayesha is a lecturer in Global Health at St Georges University of London and Honorary Lecturer at the Institute for Global Health, University College London, with a PhD in Medical Ethics. She specialises in cross-cultural mental health especially during conflict and gender-based violence in extreme settings. Recently, her colleagues and herself completed a funded research project on Investigating Trauma Therapeutic Interventions for Gender-Based Violence in Afghanistan Using Traditional Story-Telling. She explore the politics of mental health and the role of humanities such as poetry and storytelling in global health, and am particularly interested in silencing and war-related trauma.

Barbara O'Neill is an Australian naturopath and lecturer on health issues who, in 2019, was banned for life by the New South Wales Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) from providing free or paid health services. The ban followed an HCCC investigation which found she lacked any health related qualifications, a degree, diploma, or membership in an accredited health organisation. It also found that she provided dangerous, unsupported health advice to vulnerable groups. This included advising parents to feed their infants raw goat milk or almond milk blended with dates or banana instead of formula, and recommending that cancer patients forgo chemotherapy in favour of baking soda wraps and dietary changes.

Who is Fatou?
Fatou Baldeh Fatou is one of Scotland's most well-known and knowledgable FGM activists. She holds an MSc in Sexual & Reproductive Health from Queen Margaret University and a degree in Health Studies & Psychology. Fatou has been involved in campaigning against FGM in Scotland for 5 years. In addition to her research into NHS Scotland obstetric care for women who have experienced FGM, Fatou has worked on FGM in the Gambia and is a changemaker within her own family and community.
