"Free as a Bird" is a song originally written and recorded in 1977 as a home demo by John Lennon, formerly of the Beatles. In 1995, 25 years after their break-up and 15 years after Lennon was murdered, the band released a studio version incorporating contributions from his surviving bandmates Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
The single was released as part of the promotion for The Beatles Anthology video documentary and the Anthology 1 compilation album. For the Anthology project, McCartney asked Lennon's widow Yoko Ono for unreleased material by Lennon to which the three remaining ex-Beatles could contribute. "Free as a Bird" was one of two such songs (along with "Real Love") for which McCartney, Harrison, and Starr contributed additional instrumentation, vocals, and arrangements. Jeff Lynne, who had worked with Harrison on Harrison's album Cloud Nine and as part of the Traveling Wilburys, co-produced.
The song peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It also became a top-ten hit in at least 10 other countries, including Australia, Canada, Hungary and Sweden. It won the 1997 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and was the Beatles' 34th top-ten single in the United States, meaning they had at least one top-forty hit in four different decades.
The music video was produced by Vincent Joliet and directed by Joe Pytka. Shot from the point of view of a bird in flight, it references numerous Beatles songs.
Don't you, know that I'll, be around to, guide you
Through your, weakest moments to leave them, behind you
Returning nightmares, only shadows
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
For now
Crosses, all over, heavy on, your shoulders
The sirens, inside you, waiting to, step forward
Disturbing, silence, darkens, your sight
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
For now
Crosses, all over, the boulevard
Crosses, all over, the boulevard
Crosses, all over, the boulevard
Crosses, all over, the boulevard
The streets outside your window, overflooded
People staring, they know you've, been broken
Repeatedly reminded, by the looks on, their faces
Ignore them tonight and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright

"Psycho"
Love, it will get you nowhere
You're on your own
Lost in the wild
So come to me now
I could use someone like you
Someone who'll kill on my command
And asks no questions
I'm gonna make you
I'm gonna break you
I'm gonna make you
A fucking psycho
A fucking psycho
A fucking psycho
Your ass belongs to me now
Are you a human drone?
(Aye, sir!)
Are you a killing machine?
(Aye, sir!)
I'm in control, motherfucker, do you understand?
(Aye, sir!)
Your mind is just a program
And I'm the virus
I'm changing the station
I'll improve your thresholds
I'll turn you into a super drone (super drone)
And you will kill on my command
And I won't be responsible
I'm gonna make you
I'm gonna break you
I'm gonna make you
A fucking psycho
A fucking psycho
A fucking psycho
Your ass belongs to me now
Are you a psycho killer? Say "I'm a psycho killer!"
(I am a psycho killer!)
Scream it!
(I am a psycho killer!)
Show me your war face!
(AHHHH!)
You are a pussy! I said show me your war face!
(AHHHH!)
I'm gonna make you
I'm gonna break you
I'm gonna make you
A fucking psycho
A fucking psycho
A fucking psycho
Your ass belongs to me now
I will break you, do you understand?
I will break you, do you understand?
I will break you, do you understand?
I will break you, do you understand?
(Aye, sir!)
You fucking psycho
Your ass belongs to me now
Your ass belongs to me now
[Verse 1]
Said you wouldn't be home late tonight
I gave up waiting at seventeen past midnight
Now my only company's a half full glass of wine
[Pre-Chorus]
Leave me no choice but to plot my revenge
Leave me no choice but to plot my revenge
[Chorus]
It's been so long
Since I've held your hand
You don't know how hard it can be
[Verse 2]
Thank God that I've been blessed with a patient mind
Cause' what I want to happen won't happen in a very long time
Now my only company's a half full glass of wine
[Pre-Chorus]
Leave me no choice but to plot my revenge
[Chorus]
It's been so long
Since I've held your hand
You don't know how hard it can be
You don't know how hard it can be

Music video by The Beatles performing Something. (C) 2015 Calderstone Productions Limited (a division of Universal Music Group) / Apple Films Ltd.
According to Lou Reed it was Andy Warhol who inspired the song. He said in a Rolling stone interview in 1989.
“Why don’t you write a song called ‘Vicious. And I said, 'What kind of vicious?’ Oh, you know, vicious like I hit you with a flower.‘ And I wrote it down literally.”
[Verse 1]
Standing now
Calling all the people here to see the show
Calling for my demons now to let me go
I need something, give me something wonderful
I believe
She won't take me somewhere I'm not supposed to be
You can't steal the things that god has given me
No more pain and no more shame and misery
[Chorus]
You can't take me down
You can't break me down
You can't take me down
You can't take me down
You can't break me down
You can't take me down
[Verse 2]
Love and hate
How much more are we supposed to tolerate
Can't you see there's more to me than my mistakes
Sometimes I get this feeling - makes me hesitate
I believe
She won't take me somewhere I'm not supposed to be
You can't steal the things that god has given me
No more pain and no more shame and misery
[Chorus]
You can't take me down
You can't break me down
You can't take me down
You can't break me down
You can't take me down
You can't break me down
[Bridge]
I can see a place of trouble
And I'm on the verge
For the love of everybody
I need something more
Now I feel some days of trouble
I'm in the house of war
For the love of everybody
Look behind the wall
[Outro]
Standing now
Calling all the people here to see the show
Calling for my demons now to let me go
I need something, give me something wonderful
