"I believe there's a serious messaging gap between libertarianism and Black communities," Zuri Davis tells us. "If anyone knows the horrors of big government, it's us. I hope that by sharing at least one of our stories, viewers will be inspired to do more Black outreach."
In this video—the 4th Place winner in Feminists for Liberty's 2021 Video Contest—Davis shares the story of Jefferson Street, a historically black neighborhood in North Nashville.
Davis is a criminal justice reform activist and former journalist. She is currently the executive producer on "The Expungement Experiment," a documentary following the lives of formerly incarcerated Milwaukeeans as they navigate the complicated road to expungement, and a communications strategist with the ACLU of Florida. It’s clear social equity measures are necessary—but another government tax or regulation is not the way.
Instead, we need to further free cannabis markets, reducing the barriers of taxation and regulation that keep those on the frontlines of the drug war in the crosshairs of law enforcement
We need to release and pardon those languishing in prison for a so-called “crime” that is no longer illegal and remove impediments to their engaging in legal cannabis entrepreneurship, says Feminists for Liberty's Kat Murti in a BoldTV Millennial Minute debate featuring Reason Foundation Policy Analyst Jacob Rich, moderated by BoldTV's David Grasso.

What can we do to free debate about reproductive health from the culture war and allow people to make their own individual choices?
Feminists for Liberty's question about the tug-of-war at the Supreme Court on issues surrounding abortion, access to birth control, and other reproductive health issues was featured at The Cato Institute's 19th Annual Constitution Day symposium
"I appreciate the real feminist perspective. Lots of women need to be able to control their reproduction; it affects their life chances," says Robin Fretwell Wilson, the Roger and Stephany Joslin Professor of Law at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
"We need to think really hard about the humanity of these questions, and try to find ways where we can recognize needs that people honestly have, but not ask people who cannot simply do that thing to do it."

Like many other supposedly gender neutral policies, the U.S. tax code disproportionately negatively impact women.
The widely-used system of joint filing taxes was instituted in 1948 to incentivize women who had joined the workforce during World War II to relinquish their jobs to returning soldiers and go back to homemaking instead.
Despite the normalization of dual income households over time, modern tax policy continues to push married women at virtually every income level to work fewer hours than they otherwise would, or to stay out of the labor force entirely—a major contributing factor to the gender pay gap.
On Tuesday, May 11th, Erin Partin and Aeris Stewart joined us for a discussion of sexism in the tax code, moderated by Feminists for Liberty's Elizabeth Nolan Brown and Kat Murti.

A third party vote isn’t a “wasted vote”; it’s a vote for a platform that neither of the two major parties—both of which benefit from electoral laws designed to keep them in power—are willing to provide.
These voters aren’t unengaged. They’ve researched their options, and they’re not happy with what either the Democrats or Republicans have to offer. If they hadn’t voted third party, they likely wouldn’t have voted at all.
Instead of bemoaning so-called “stolen” votes, both major parties should instead address the concerns of third party voters and win their support fair and square, says Feminists for Liberty's Kat Murti in a BoldTV Millennial Minute debate featuring Political Strategist Ajay Bruno, moderated by BoldTV's Julia Sun.

If Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion were men, we wouldn’t be talking about WAP right now, says Feminists for Liberty’s Kat Murti in a BoldTV debate about the representation of women in music, featuring conservative musical artist Joy Vila, who made international headlines by wearing Trump dresses on the red carpet.
Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro says, “This is what the feminist movement is all about. It’s not really women being treated as independent, full, rounded human beings.”
But, he’s wrong: a woman’s sexuality IS a part of what makes her a full, rounded human being. There is nothing inherently shameful about women expressing and taking ownership of their sexuality.
