This is probably good advice, whether you are running fifth edition D&D, an OSR game, or any RPG, but, particularly for the OSR, it is important due to the lack of safety nets for players: telegraph the danger of monsters the party is likely to encounter in a given area. We want players to make informed decisions and take ownership of those decisions. To do that, they need information and it is incumbent upon us, as the GMs, to give them this information.
