I thought Labour day was just that horrible reminder that summer freedom was over and that another school year was about to begin. I'd never thought to actually look it up and find out what it was really about. As always once I started digging I found all sorts of murder and mayhem and that kind of terrible things that history is so good at delivering whenever you think to pries it open! I bring you the Haymarket Massacre!

Hewlett Diary: Do you have any examples of weird wonderful or inspiring tales of adventure on YouTube? I happened to witness the departure from Toronto of The Penny Farthing World Tour: http://calloftheroad.smugmug.com/
...and was so intrigued that I looked him up! What an adventure that guy is on...on what looks like a terrifyingly unstable and uncomfortable means of transportation.
I've also watched a few videos from RickVanMan: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5ee0c5sX4I_I4r3FSIFbcQ
and loved hearing about his "dropping-out" of the day to day rat race and enjoying the gorgeous UK countryside.
And the Zapp family who wrote the book "Spark Your Dream" as they traveled the world for over a decade in an old car! http://www.argentinaalaska.com/
But it got me thinking about the kinds of amazing lives and travels that we get to share here on YouTube. I've always been a huge fan of motorcycles and motorcycle documentaries or books on the subject...loved Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance and just about anything I could find on riding in the Paris Dakar rally. Not sure that it's something that I'd jump in to, but it always fascinated me. The idea of being so completely isolate and yet sharing it with the world...first through books, then film and video and now YouTube. The personal connection to this and other tales of adventure online really adds so much to the experience.
And of course big thanks to Marcia at The Bell New Media Fund for getting me those amazing Slugterra weapons:

Late but great #BurnandLearn today...didn’t think I’d even get to it with Jane our and Bratlett such a miserable wreck, but I got a window and jumped through it! Still completely enthralled by Barbara Oakley’s magnificent Mind For Numbers: https://barbaraoakley.com/books/a-mind-for-numbers/
And so engaged I accidentally ellipticalled(?) myself an extra few
Minutes!

Hewlett Diary: Heading to London Film and Comicon...any of you coming with me? Hoping to see some of you there. I love these big general geeky shows as there's so much more for me to get excited about. Don't get me wrong, I love the Stargate specific events which along with the fans are a great way to be back in touch with old friends and costars from the show. The thing about something like the London event is that I'll get to be the fan too! Looking forward to much Game of Thrones and maybe some comics and magic the gathering and pokemon trading cards and...well, there's really too much to try and list all the things I'm looking forward to and the surprises that come up at these incredible events. I really don't know how they pull these things off! I know how demanding I am...I can't imagine what it's like trying to get so many guests and attendees into the right place at the right time without losing you mind in the process. Flying out tonight so naturally I'm already getting nervous as I'm a terrible flier...so I won't be going back to look at the Tales Of Flying Terror video and all the horrifying stories that came up out of that video.
