Whether we like it or not, the meanings of words are changed, which makes translating writings from the past difficult to understand.
Symbols are often used in place of words, but also have different functions, so one could question if the original intent/power of the symbol, especially those that are esoteric, changes.
Or are we playing with fire misusing symbols?
One can call a rattle snake a pencil, but doesn't change the snake's venom.
