Guided Meditation - Making a Start on Your Meditation Practice. Focusing on Your Breathe (no music)
This guided meditation may be useful for those who feel they have an “overactive” mind and find it hard to relax and “switch off”.
I have made two versions of this guided meditation. Exactly the same wording but one made with relaxing music. Ideally, it’s best to meditate without music but if it helps you to relax to start your practice, you may find the one with music easier to start.
In time, as you feel an improvement on your practice, try to then meditate without the music and as you continue to progress you may feel you can start meditating without the initial guided meditation.
You can meditate anywhere and at any time. In a quiet room, in nature, on public transport or in a parked up car. At first, it may be easier to find a quiet space without distractions from other people, children and pets.
It’s ok to fall asleep, it’s a way of your body letting you know the stress it’s been under but also releasing and relaxing with sleep. If you have the time, once you wake up, try a few more minutes of the meditation.
Try not to “stop” your thoughts (as this may cause a headache), instead allow for it to pass without judgement or putting any energy into it.
Also, try and stay detached from the outcome of your meditation session as it can block you from experiencing an effective meditation session.
