This is one of four video tests conducted on the same clip. Here are the others:

One other thing I just noticed:
If the aspect ratio is of CERTAIN pixel dimensions, e.g., 720x480, YouTube does an on-the-fly squeeze (stretching the image horizontally). You can sometimes see this in action in the first fraction of a second of the beginning of a clip (refresh the page; don't click Replay or move the slider back). In the 480x360 version, YouTube doesn't force this "dynamic squeeze".
YouTube should allow the user to control this.

Camcorder: Panasonic PV-GS200 miniDV
The 3-CCD technology (there is one 1/6th inch CCD for Red, for Blue, and for Green) really goes to town when it comes to color fidelity (i.e., saturation, accurate hues, etc.)

There are two sequences here:
- A South-East view that shows buildings of Century City and, more distant, downtown LA.
- A south/SW view, that shows Santa Monica bay, the "South Bay", and in the distance, Palos Verdes peninsula.
Compare this footage to the dusk time-lapse from roughly the same area:
