Six years after partnering with Drew Estate for the Dojo’s first-ever collaboration, the two have reunited once more, introducing the Undercrown Dogma Sun Grown for 2020. In 2017, Cigar Dojo awarded Drew Estate’s Undercrown Sun Grown the No.1 Cigar of the Year. Considering that the Undercrown Sun Grown offered a spinoff take on the Undercrown brand, it seemed all too fitting to craft a Dogma version to accompany the fan-favorite original Dogma. Undercrown Dogma Sun Grown features an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed sun-grown wrapper, a Connecticut River Valley Stalk Cut/Cured sun-grown Habano binder, and all Nicaraguan fillers, including extensively aged ligero from Nicaragua’s, rarely used Nueva Segovia region. Now this is the only difference in this Sungrown vs the standard sungrown. Like the original Dogma, the Dogma Sun Grown boasts a box-press shape, boasting an amped-up 5″ x 54 format, as chosen by the Cigar Dojo staff in collaboration with Willy Herrera, master blender for Drew Estate. In the spirit of the Dogma, the cigar performs with more intensity than the core-line blend it was built upon. The Undercrown Dogma originally began production in 2013, eventually debuting exclusively through online retailer Smoke Inn in the spring of 2014. Only 650 bundles of 10 cigars (split into two separate releases) were made available for the original release, collectively selling out in under 10 hours! The cigars became a highly requested item for enthusiasts and collectors alike, reaching heights of $500 (per bundle) on secondary markets. But the Dogma was never intended to be a luxury item, and Drew Estate and Cigar Dojo made the decision to bring the blend back, launching for the second time in 2018 and again in 2019.
