You are shuffling through an old cardboard box in the attic and find some VHS tapes that the leak in the ceiling damaged. For nostalgia's sake you take one of the VHS tapes and unravel the tape and rewind it inside the casing. Next you borrow your neighbor's VHS player and see what was on the tape. The water has damaged the color and there are some noise artifacts in the footage but you can barely make out a sunset on a California beach in the early 80s. Now you remember the surfing road trip you took when you were much younger and all the great times you had camping next to your old VW bus. Though the footage is damaged it has awakened the memory and the images are clear in your mind.
A strange particle has been released from an atom smasher. It has changed the composition of all humans into various colored sponges. As people wake up to realize they are now a sponge, they freak out and begin running. The running seems to take their mind off of the terrible existence of being an absorbing material... They will run until it rains.
Video was created in 3ds max and vray using vray fog to create the sponge material. Audio was created in MPC via my Akai MPK III. Thanks for listening :-) #synthwave #vray

Here is an improvisation on my Wechter Pathfinder acoustic guitar. To start the process I programmed a 140 bpm basic drum track in superior drummer. I put the drums wav file on my phone and listened while I played whatever came to mind while recording with my zoom h6. Next I imported the wav file of the acoustic guitar back into my daw then reformatted the drums to match the guitar parts. This process seems to yield better result rather than just playing to a metronome as the monotonous metronome tone kind of influences my playing. If the drum beat is varied and interesting it forces you to try and play differently to match the percussion better. Once the song was mixed I layered in the video and fractals in after effects. This is also a test of my new black backdrop sheet that allows me to mask out the video better for adding effects. Thanks for listening :-) #improvisation

Here is an improvisation on my Takamine Classical guitar tuned to dadgde where I play whatever comes to mind to a 6/8 130 bpm drum beat I programmed in Superior Drummer. The drum library is the NY full set with some reverb and eq to bring out the kick drum a bit more. I also added a marimba track about a minute into the song with some ambient effects added via Guitar Rig 6. Towards the end of the song I bring in my G&L Asat with a rotary effect via Bias FX 2.
The overall deep drum beat and dark classical guitar riffs kind of remind me of some deep part of the mind that has control over the conscious mind without you knowing its even there. When improvising on the guitar my conscious mind tends to take a backseat to some other force that relies on muscle memory.

Here's an improvisation on my Gibson Les Paul quilt top. I recorded it running through my fender mustang amp on a high gain setting. I used a Jim Dooley backing drum track to improvise to. Later I added my musicman bass and a fender stratocaster special track as a lead. Thanks for listening.

Scientists have finally isolated a single particle of red matter. They are running tests bombarding it with different sound frequencies to see what happens. As it turns out the red matter is sentient and hates certain sound frequencies. It begins to act up and distort into many different forms. Eventually it became too much for the red matter to handle and it exploded decimating everything in the area. Now it can go back to its inert state undisturbed. It will take another millenia until a sentient being is able to evolve to study the red matter once again.

Here is a little shootout between Guitar Rig 6, Amplitube 5 and Bias FX 2. The first track on the G&L Fallout uses the Chicago amp with reverb and delay from Guitar Rig 6. The G&L Comanche has some ambient delay and a Fender amp simulation using Bias FX 2. The final G&L ASAT track has amplitube 5 with a Fender champ amp simulation with reverb and delay. Overall all these plugins work really well though I think Bias FX 2 has the best performance and most realistic sound. Guitar rig 6 tends to eat up a lot of computer resources so you kind of risk audio drop outs while recording. The workaround I use is to go with a really simple amp setup first then when the track is recorded I add on effects later. Amplitube 5 sounds really good but I don't like how all the components aren't available to use IK Multimedia likes to try and sell you different elements individually. In this shootout I would say I prefer bias fx the most then amplitube 5 and guitar rig 6 falls at the bottom of the list until I can figure out a way to get it optimized for my system.

Here is an original tune built around a 6/8 beat on my Meinl Udu liquid drum. Once the udu tracks were in place I added a couple tracks on my clay doumbek. Next I added a couple tracks on my idiopan for a bell like ambient sound. There is also a shaker track just to keep a consistent rhythm in the background.
All the percussion tracks were created to back my main guitar track. I used my g&l fallout with the Seymour Duncan bridge pickup tapped to get a sharp crystalline sound. For effects I have a delay with eight repeats on it and a bit of drive and reverb. Overall the sound turned out bright and reflective so I named it Crystalline Refraction like light being refracted through a faceted crystal.

Here is a little instrumental synthwave composition I made on my Akai MPK Mini in MPC 2 on my commute to work. It sort of has an 80s mood to it that reminded me of driving around at night in the city. Thanks for listening :-) #mpc #synthwave #80s

Just a quick little Celtic style tune i made up on the spot with my six string cigar box guitar (built by Captain Nemoff). I recorded the audio using a Zoom H6 xy capsule then added an additional Remo hand drum track in Adobe Audition (also recorded with my Zoom H6). After that I spliced the remixed audio back into the video via Adobe After Effects. The whole process took about an hour and a half. Eventually I plan on doing a proper multitrack version of this jam with more instruments.
