Miktek T89 Super Cardioid Dynamic Mic Review / Test
Today I review the Miktek T89, a supercardioid handheld dynamic microphone. This mic has a very clear and detailed tone that will help cut through the mix. It has a warm low-end, but can be a bit overwhelming in some instances. It does a great job at background noise rejection, but suffers when rejecting handling noise or plosives. All around at $100 it’s a GREAT contender for a handheld dynamic.

Today we’re looking at a rare audio interface from Aphex, the IN2. This thing has a built in optical compressor (that sounds awesome), a high pass filter, S/PDIF I/O, separate phantom power switches for each channel, and Class A Preamps that offer ~+45 - +50dB of gain (estimation).

Today we discuss my favorite audio gear of 2023. I limit the selections to a Top 3 which made it very difficult, but I share my favorite microphone that I reviewed this year, my favorite audio interface / preamp I reviewed, and my favorite new production gear that I use in my studio. I would love to hear what your favorite gear of the year is.
NOTE: No payment received. Marked paid promotion because I received Rode NTH100s from Rode. I was not required to make a video on them, I included them in this video because I use them.

Today I review the CAD Equitek E100s, a super-cardioid condenser studio microphone. This mic has a crazy low self noise at 3.7dBA, and a max SPL of 150dB. It offers a warm, smooth, and detailed tone that I think works well for voice, acoustic instruments, and clean electric guitar.

Today I review a brand new multipattern handheld condenser mic from Lewitt. This thing also has a high pass filter and a -12dB pad, and the huge surprise is the fact that you can unscrew the handle and get a wireless capsule. It does great with handling noise, background noise, plosives, cupping the mic, and it offers that standard Lewitt sound which is very clear and bright.

Today I review the Lewitt LCT240 Pro, which is an Audio Technica AT2035 Competitor. This is the mic that Glenn Beck & The Blaze uses (I’ve been asked A LOT what their mics are). This is a detailed and clear sounding microphone, with a healthy proximity effect, that avoids sounding nasally. It does have a somewhat high self noise at 19dBA and can be sibilant and have a bit of grittiness in the upper range

Today I review the Rode NT1000, which is a great alternative to the Rode NT1a. The sound is fairly balanced with some minor boosts in the treble frequencies, and a larger boost in the air frequencies, and at the same time a well managed bass range. If you like the NT1a but want something a little less bright, and a little less low/lowmid forward, then this is an excellent option.
